2023 – Jackson Deen Goral

Jackson Deen Goral is a east coast based actor with experience in film, television, and theatre. You can currently catch him as Scut Farkus in the Bristol Riverside Theatre’s production of A Christmas Story!

1. How did you get started acting?
When I was 4 I did a print shoot and then a web series and then got into commercials. My mom said I had no stranger danger and worked well with others and was always happy.

2. What was your time on set like filming The Curious Case of Natalia Grace?
It was enjoyable and fun. I liked working with the other kids, and with Katina. I got to spend a few days in Connecticut, it was really beautiful. I liked learning about the story, even though I’m still not sure of the full truth.

3. How different was it to prepare for a role where you are playing a person in a true crime case compared to roles that are characters created for the project?
I felt nervous playing a real person because he might be watching me. I also had a better understanding of the role because we have information about the boy.

4. What was the best part of filming We Need to Talk?
I got to play a twin! I got to have so much fun during shooting, running around, annoying my “dad” which I don’t do at home, so it was ON! We got to make a mess, fight, and pretend to sleep.

5. What was the casting process like for A Christmas Story?
I actually auditioned for Ralphie in New York. I went full out in the fight scene, and I think that’s what landed me the bully, Scut Farkus. In the callbacks I read for all the roles.

6. Were you familiar at all with the film prior to auditioning?
I watched it once after I got the role.

7. What has the experience been like preparing for a live show?
It can be stressful at times, like remembering lines and blocking and entrances. But overall, I know it’s helping me as a performer and a person learn. I’m also have so much fun with the cast. I have made the theatre a second home!

8. How do you deal with nerves when it comes to performing in front of an audience?
I don’t really feel nervous.

9. What do you enjoy most about doing live theatre?
I love being with the same people for a long period of time. You really get to know the cast and become friends, especially in a show like this with so many kids! My favorite is when I hear the audience laugh.

10. What has been your favorite project to work on so far?
My favorite project has been Cat on a Hot in Roof at Walnut Street Theatre because it was my 1st professional theatre experience and I made the best friends working on that show! We still keep in touch and see each other’s shows.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I just finished shooting a film, Mightyclaw, which also shot in Connecticut. I had a lead in the film, which was really awesome but the one thing that was missing was other kids. I am so excited to see this film when it comes out in the spring.
