2023 – Hudson West

Hudson West plays the role of Jake Webber on General Hospital. This year he has been back with more episodes, a storyline, and an appearance at the fan club weekend.

1. What have you been up to more recently?
I’ve mostly been doing school, bouldering, and learning to drive.

2. What was the experience like attending General Hospital Fan Club Weekend as a teenager vs. when you were a kid?
It was very nostalgic. My perspective of it had really changed since I was little. Now that my mind is more mature, I perceive signing autographs and taking photos way differently.

3. Do you ever get recognized in public for playing Jake? Or for any of your other projects?
I get recognized for playing Jake every now and then. I just recently got recognized about a week ago.

4. How did you react when you found out you’d be filming more often, and with Jake having more of a storyline?
Honestly, I was pretty nervous. I hadn’t had a storyline on the show in years, and I felt a new sense of pressure that I never felt back in the day.

5. What was it like to start working with Scarlett again now that you are both older and your characters are starting a relationship?
It was exciting and crazy to see her after so many years. I had naturally assumed I would never see her again, and then all of a sudden I’m spending a whole week with her everyday. It was all around a very positive experience.

6. How has your relationship grown working along side William Lipton for a few years? What was it like to film his goodbye scenes as Jake? What about for you in real life?
Will and I had grown very close back when we were filming a bunch together. However, once I had started spending a lot less time on the show, I rarely got to see William. It was sad saying goodbye to him, but at that point we weren’t as close as we used to be.

7. How did you enjoy working with Finola Hughes for the scenes after Charlotte was shot? Did you do anything specific to prepare for filming those scenes?
Finola was incredible to work with mostly because I could learn a lot from her. She is also just a cool person all around. The only thing I could do to prepare for the scenes is to relate it as much as I can to my own life, using empathy.

8. What was the experience like working with James Patrick Stuart?
James is an amazing presence on set. He is really funny and good with kids. James brought some light to set even when it got intense filming the shooting.

9. Is there anyone you still have not been able to work with on the show that you would really like to?
There are a lot of people, but Maurice Benard comes to mind. It’s been years since we’ve worked together.

10. What was your favorite episode to work on this past year?
My favorite episode was the trick or treating episode where I was with all the other kids. I don’t normally get to work other kids on the show, so it is exciting when I do.
