2021 – Hudson West

Hudson West plays the role of Jake Webber on General Hospital. In addition to the soap he has recently been seen on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, 9-1-1 and NCIS: Los Angeles!

1. What has been the biggest change in auditions for you?
All of the auditions have changed to self tapes. I have to worry about the camera set up, lighting and all of the equipment I normally wouldn’t have to do. Plus, I personally don’t like self tapes because I don’t think the true person comes across like in person does. I feel I do better in person.

2. How did you enjoy working on your episode of 9-1-1?
It was a lot of fun! I always enjoy being on set. I always meet a lot of great people and every shoot is a positive experience where I always learn something to improve my craft.

3. In your episode of NCIS: Los Angeles your character was bullied? How do you use your platform and voice to help others who may be bullied?
Numerous times I have posted on my IG account selfie posts promoting awareness for bullying. I wore an orange shirt during October which is bullying prevention month. I also wore a purple shirt on spirit day for LGBTQ bullying and I also took a stand against the R word. I feel very passionate about being kind to people.

4. What was your first day back on GH set after the shut down like?
It always feel like home when I’m there! I love it. However, this time it was more quiet, somber and almost depressed. You aren’t really allowed to socialize much anymore unless you are actively on set working. But I do wish I had more air dates.

5. With this year being your 5th year on General Hospital did you do anything to celebrate?
I really didn’t do anything special to celebrate because I wasn’t working on GH at the time. Covid has really messed up a lot of things that should be fun.

6. How did you prepare for filming the Franco’s funeral scenes?
I definitely felt genuine sadness knowing that I’m not going to be able to work with Roger Howarth as Franco again. :-(. We had a lot of fun over the years. So it wasn’t really hard to prepare to be sad because I really was.

7. What have you enjoyed the most about filming the Jake/Cameron conflict with William Lipton?
Any scenes that I get to work with William I count as a blessing. Even if we are having a conflict on screen. Sometimes doing something different, like having a conflict is kind of fun. Stepping out of the box so to speak.

8. How has your relationship with Becky Herbst grown from when you started to now?
We are super comfortable working together after all of these years. I feel we collaborate as actors very well. She’s almost like my mom! 🙂

9. Can you tell us anything about your character in the upcoming show Like It Was Yesterday?
Actually, unfortunately that project has been delayed so I have no information on that as of right now.

10. Where do you see your career in five years as an actor?
It’s hard to say where my career will be in 5 years but I do hope I will still be able to do what I love.
