2021 – Alex Jayne Go

Alex Jayne Go appeared on an episode of General Hospital. Since we last interviewed Alex she has appeared on several shows including Good Trouble, Good Girls and Side Hustle. She was also seen on the hit Netflix show Emily’s Wonder Lab where she got to try cool kids science experiments!

1. What do you love most about acting?
On set, I love getting to work with talented people and learning about their expertise… like hair, make up, wardrobe, audio, putting on a safety harness, and even meeting an animal trainer who trains squirrels!

2. How do you make every role that you play unique?
To make each role unique / authentic, I would try to think like the character and react like them.

3. What was your time on set like filming your American Family Insurance commercial?
The Property Brothers were funny. Cheryl Tsai and Robert Smith (actor parents) were nice. Cheryl has played my sister (Riley)’s mom before in another commercial. I also got to dance — as the crew followed me with a camera on a wheely cart / dolly on a track — and flowers “magically popped up.”

4. What was the experience like working with Jonathan and Drew Scott?
It was great chatting with Jonathan and Drew Scott. They are so funny and SO TALL. And when we took a photo, they let me be tall, too (by putting me on their shoulders).

5. How did you enjoy working on an episode of Side Hustle?
Nickelodeon’s Side Hustle was my first in-person job during the pandemic after the Hollywood shutdown. It was my first time seeing portable hand washing stations all over on set. And someone was behind a plastic divider, in charge of handing you your snack choices, instead of the usual self serve. They really thought of every detail and I felt completely safe.
The cast and crew were sweet. It was fun working with Jayden Bartels, Jules LeBlanc, Isaiah Crews and Mitchell Berg. I enjoyed putting the fake dirt on our hands and face, and digging up fake veggies. In the end, production gave us the boxes of bracelets and accessories that we used for the birthday party scene.

6. How much fun was it getting to be a part of Emily’s Wonder Lab? Were you into fun science experiments before?
On the set of Emily’s Wonder Lab, we were laughing, learning, chatting or just being curious.
During the callback, they asked me what my favorite school subject was, and I said art. But I’ve always liked baking and experimenting with recipes. And Emily’s Wonder Lab made me realize that science — just like art and baking — is fun!

7. What was the best part working with Emily?
Emily Calandrelli is positive, funny, and she explains science concepts really well.

8. How did you react when you appeared on the Today show to promote the show?
Super excited!! It’s an honor to be on the Today show and I hope I get to promote other shows again.

9. Do you have a favorite experiment you did?
The Emily’s Wonder Lab experiment that I enjoyed most was Episode 8’s air rings, because I got to smack people with air. 🙂

10. Is there anything you can share about your role in Little Angels?
Little Angels is about a popular college football coach who gets suspended, and ends up working with a team of underdog soccer players. I can’t wait for everyone to see the final edit. This is a movie that will be hilarious for the entire family.
My character, Tevy, is a mediocre soccer player who helps the coach — starring the amazing Dean Cain (who also wrote and directed the movie). Helena Mattsson was so wonderful. And people will also enjoy watching Carla Jimenez and Torrance Coombs. In real life, our team got to work with World Cup / Olympic champion Brandi Chastain on soccer drills.

A spectacular treehouse was built specifically for the Navy Federal Credit Union commercial. For the first time, I wore a safety harness and climbed up a huge tall tree. It was so much fun playing in the treehouse, and when they finished filming that part, the team took down the treehouse plank by plank. They were so fast!
During that second part of the commercial, the parents imagine what life would be like if they didn’t have a treehouse. So we hang onto the tree, and encounter a squirrel. That squirrel is real! We actually met the animal trainers and the trained squirrels.

Heritage Day
Written and directed by Lara Everly, Heritage Day is a short film about a mother-daughter relationship between Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box), as the kids at school discover their family history. I play Nicole and my mom is played by actress-comedian Sierra Katow (Last Comic Standing). Bonus… I got to wear a wig! 🙂
