2021 – Ainsley Crouse

Ainsley Crouse has kept busy during the pandemic as a young actress and model on the east coast. During this time she has worked for Spirit Hallween, Calmin’ Ground, and recently has been back in studio for Ellie Sparkles. You may have also seen her and her mom competing on Top Chef Family Style!

1. What was your time on set like working for Calmin’ Ground?
It was so so fun because I got to work with animals like Greg the horse, bunnies and chickens. The farm was beautiful and it was a special project because the farm spends a lot of their time working with children that have special needs and that means a lot to me.

2. How did you enjoy working with the animals?
I LOVE animals so it was amazing. Grooming the horse was one of the best parts and also holding a chicken. Never thought I would do that.

3. What did it feel like to be back filming for Ellie Sparkles?
SOO good! I have worked with that crew many times and it used to be at the You Tube studios in NYC, but that shut down with Covid. I had done a few virtual projects with them, but this was the first time back in person. They are a wonderful crew and always make it fun and easy. BONUS is that the new location is only 20 minutes from my house!

4. Do you have a favorite costume you have shot recently for Spirit Halloween?
I would say my favorite was the ice hockey player because it was super comfortable. Or the glow clown costume that went viral on Tik Tok.

5. What was the best part about competing in Top Chef Family Style?
Getting to meet all of the other contestants was definitely the best part. I made some lifelong friends and we still have a group chat. I hope we get to hang out again one day. We spent hours and hours together everyday while we were there and really formed a bond. The other part was just getting to spend that alone time with my mom and of course, being in California, which is one of my favorite places.

6. What was the casting process like to get on the show?
So, I had tried several times to get on another cooking show and almost made it, but not quite. The casting office actually reached out to me to see if I would be interested in interviewing for it. And…. we made it! At first, we didn’t realize it would be for me and my mom…. so that made it way more fun. Then, we found out they would be flying us to Los Angeles like in a few days so it was a bit hectic, but fun.

7. How did you enjoy getting to cook with your mom on television?
Cooking with her was funny because she tends to say the weirdest things, but then again so do I. We had the interview people cracking up. It’s too bad we don’t get to see those parts. It was good cooking with her because we each have our strengths so we sort of just went with what was best for the team. It was definitely stressful though.

8. What is one of the funniest things that happened when filming?
Hahhaha, well, there were a few things, but mainly during interviews. Like I said, I had the crew cracking up with the random things that would come out of my mouth. Other than that, maybe us messing up our lamb chops? Funny, no, but now we can laugh about it.

9. How hard was it to keep everything a secret until it aired?
It was super hard. The only people that could know were immediate family because they had to know where we were and school because they had to sign papers. I couldn’t even tell friends. I just had to tell them I was going to Los Angeles for work, which wasn’t too weird because I have done that before.

10. What else have you been up to this year?
Because of Covid, things definitely got more quiet with work (I have still worked quite a bit though and still waiting on stuff to come out), but I will say it has been nice because it allowed me to be in competitive sports. I used to not be able to do competitive sports because you can’t miss practices so I always had to do sports in clinics and ones with less strict rules. I have gotten into lacrosse and field hockey and LOVE them both. AND I have gotten to spend way more time with friends, which is nice. I am now in the 6th grade and doing well in school. My favorite subject is lunch. hahha

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Not much other than thanks for always having me on this series~ Next time you are back in NYC, I would love to see you again. Oh and I hope everyone has a wonderful 2022.
