2019 – Gracen Newton

Gracen Newton appeared in last years Christmas episode of General Hospital. This year he has been seen on The Kids Are Alright, The Kominsky Method and was seen on the second season of Child Support.

1. What was your time on set like filming for General Hospital?
Getting to work on General Hospital was an amazing experience! I was lucky enough to work on the Christmas episode so I got to meet a majority of the cast and everyone was so nice and friendly! I especially liked getting to work with Hudson West because I watched him on Dancing With The Stars Juniors, so I got to tell him I thought he did a great job! Getting to be apart of the Christmas episode was just a magical experience!

2. How did you enjoy filming a show set in another time period when working on The Kids Are Alright?
It was really cool! I especially liked getting to see the old cars! I played Young Eddie on the show, and Caleb Foote, who plays Eddie was so incredibly nice! He actually stayed late after he was done filming and hung out with me while I filmed and cheered me on! Michael Cudlitz, who played my dad, spent time giving me advice about acting in between filming and encouraged me to keep chasing my dreams! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience on set with that incredible cast and crew!

3. What was the experience like filming for The Kominsky Method?
The Kominsky Method was such an honor to be apart of! I got to act along side legends Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin! This role was definitely different than anything I had done before because I had to play a really bratty kid that yells at Michael Douglas! In one part of the scene, I had to throw a can of Pringles at Michael Douglas’ head! They actually had a stunt double and a fake can of Pringles ready for this scene, but I told Michael Douglas I could just throw it at his hat instead and that I would be careful and not really hit him in the face, and he trusted me! So we filmed the scene with no props or stuntmen and I never once hit him in the face or missed my mark…. and it turned out great!

4. How did you like working with Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin?
I LOVED working with both of them! I was constantly cracking jokes in between takes and kept Michael Douglas laughing! When we wrapped, Michael Douglas told me that I have a big future of ahead of me! Getting told that by such a legend in the business was very inspiring!

5. How did you react when you heard you had booked Child Support?
I was so excited and kind of in shock because I had watched the first season and was a big fan of the show! When I got the news, I was actually walking down a street and I was so excited that I started dancing in the street!!

6. What was it like to film in New York City?
Getting to film in New York was so much fun! After I was done filming and left set, me and my family would go exploring the city! Some of my favorite things we did: we took a boat ride by the Statue of Liberty at sunset, we rode in a horse and carriage through Central Park, and went to M&M’s World!

7.What was the best part of working with the other children?
All the kids on the show were so smart and funny! That made the experience so much fun and made the show even better, because we all came from different states and backgrounds but came together and really played off each others personalities and that made for fun TV!

8. How did you enjoy filming with Ricky Gervias?
Ricky Gervias was actually really good with us kids and was really nice! We would sit in the room answering questions for hours, so he kept us laughing while filming and made the experience so fun! He did a great job of drawing out our personalities and making us feel really comfortable so that even if we had a silly answer, we could share it! I think that came across on TV because you never knew what would come out of our mouths!

9.Do you still keep in touch with any of the kids from the show?
Oh yeah, almost all of them! This experience gave us all a very special bond and we all keep in touch and cheer each other on with all of our other projects we are all working on!

10. Was it fun to make Ricky Gervais laugh?
Yes! I made him laugh a lot and its not every day you get to make one of the biggest comedians laugh!
