2019 – Erin Gerasimovich

Erin Gerasimovich is the younger sister of Alexa Gerasimovich who played Kathy Martin on All My Children. Erin is best known for her role of Hazel Weber on the Bravo comedy Odd Mom Out along with roles in the films Prisoners and Delivery Man. This year she was also seen in an episode of The Loudest Voice.

1. You have been in the industry since you were little, how has the audition process changed since then and how do you deal with the competitiveness for roles as a teen?
A lot has changed since I started auditioning. When I was younger, I didn’t really know how many people were trying out for the same roles as me. Although everyone wishes for the role, I try to remember that if I do not get the job, it was not meant for me. I have made some great friends with other actors! When I do get booked for a new role, I know it’s a great role for me!

2. Last year you appeared in two episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, what was your experience like working on the show and what do you like most about doing comedies?
Working on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was so much fun! It was one of my favorite jobs because we were pretending to put on a school play, and I had such a crazy wardrobe, I dressed up as a Fanta bottle! My favorite part of working on comedies is that it is a more relaxed environment where everything is super funny! I love making people laugh, and It’s so fun to work with people who are doing the same.

3. While on the show you got to film with Ellie Kemper and Marsai Martin, what did you learn from working with them and what was the best part of filming together?
Working with Ellie Kemper and Marsai Martin was great! Ellie is such a great actress, she was so friendly and fun to talk to, and she was nothing like her character in real life! She was always prepared and would jump right into character perfectly. I learned how to jump into character smoothly when you are about to film a scene. Marsai Martin was really nice and always professional. All of the actors respected each other and were very supportive too, and I also learned if you make a mistake, everything will be okay, it happens to everyone!

4. Part of your scenes involved doing a school musical, did that take longer to film than scenes for a show usually do? What was the most challenging part of filming this?
It was so fun filming a school musical. It did take longer than other scenes because there were a lot of background actors and massive props in the scene. The actors had to be choreographed while wearing props, and that took some time to do, we needed to be careful not to bump into each other!

5. During the last season of Odd Mom Out one of the episodes saw your character having a family sleepover at the museum, what was it like to film inside the museum and what other cool places have you gotten to film at in your career?
Filming a sleepover at the museum was so great! We actually filmed at many different locations, so we got to see many cool places! We actually filmed at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! I have filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, in a hospital, many different houses, in a vineyard, and even at a summer camp!

6. You filmed multiple scenes with Joanna Cassidy that season, what was the experience like working together and do you have a favorite memory from filming your scenes?
Working with Joanna Cassidy was incredible. She was a very good mentor for me to follow and learn from. My favorite scene I probably filmed with her was when she secretly got me a new phone behind my Mom’s back. We had to pretend my Mom was out of the state while this was happening and it was a lot of fun.

7. Odd Mom Out decided to different challenges in Hazel growing up for a few episodes, how did you prepare for those scenes and how much fun did you have between doing the summer camp scenes and the ones with the dress?
I felt so lucky when OMO had my character, Hazel, have a new story line in the show. I loved it! To be honest, since I was 11, I never experienced some of the stuff Hazel went through, so my Mom had to prepare me for the scenes. I even shaved my legs for the first time. When I wore all those outfits for the summer camp scenes, it was like performing a mini fashion show! They put hair extensions in my hair and it looked so long, it was really fun!

8. What was your last day on the set for Odd Mom Out like, and overall what are your favorite memories from the experience?
My last day of filming OMO was very sad for me. The last scene I filmed was with Andy Buckey, who played my Dad. He was the best! When everyone said “That’s a wrap for Hazel! Let’s give her a hand!” that was the hardest part for me. I loved the whole cast a crew, and never liked when the season was over. Saying good-bye to everyone was very tough, but I hope to get to see them again soon.

9.This year you worked on an episode of The Loudest Voice, what was your time on set like filming your part?
Filming The Loudest Voice was a great experience! While working on the show, I learned a lot from the actors and I was taught a lot of new emotions for different scenarios. I also worked on a scene with a lot of background actors, which was kind of a new experience for me. Since it was based on a true story, it made working on the show so interesting!

10. Is there anything you can share about the project you have currently been working on?
Well, I’m currently working on a new project and having such a great time! All of the actors are so great, and it’s one of my favorite jobs so far! As soon as I can share the news about my new project, I will! So stay tuned!
