Cali DiCapo played the role of Kiley, a classmate of Aiden and Charlotte’s, in a 2019 episode of General Hospital. This year she was busy wrapping up her role of young Jane on Jane The Virgin as well as working for Disney, Famous Footwear and more.
1. How did you get started acting?
I started acting because my older brother was signing with an agent for acting and they wondered if I wanted to sign too and I decided I wanted to do it. And I’ve been acting ever since then.
Do you remember your first time being on set?
My first booking was actually my first audition after signing with an agent. It was a commercial for Publix, a grocery store in the south. I don’t remember much, I was only 3, but I remember it was a lot of fun pretending to shop with my fake mom. I always love shopping.
2. What was the best part of filming for Barbie?
Getting to be a part of a female empowering project was the best part, but getting to meet new friends and being gifted a Barbie at the end of the shoot was really nice too.
3. Do you do anything special when you find out you booked a new project?
Every time I book a new project my family always sings a special celebration song while I do a happy dance.
4. What is the hardest part of doing voice over work? The best part?
The hardest part of doing voice over work is getting the timing right when there is only a time code and you can’t hear the other voices to know when to start or end.
5. What was it like to come in and film a a role on a fast paced show like General Hospital?
It was very thrilling and a lot of fun. Shooting on General Hospital was very different because they have very few takes to get exactly what they want. The whole process moves very fast which kept me on my toes.
6. How did you enjoy shooting for Disney?
Shooting for Disney has a special place in my heart because the people there are so kind and feel like family to me. Also, I LOVE Disney so it was so much fun to get to try on all the costumes and play with toys and once I even got to shoot at Disneyland with one of my best friends!
7. What was your experience like working on Jane the Virgin?
Jane the Virgin was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! I felt so honored to be there with all those wonderful people that I look up to. Getting to see and meet all those brilliantly talented women was so empowering because it showed me that I can really be anything I want in this world. The entire cast and crew were so kind and warm, so every day on set was an amazing experience.
8. Do you have a favorite scene you did for the show?
My favorite scene is a tie between wedding scene in the series finale and the scene where Young Jane gets emotional about her father in season 5 (it was directed by the oh so talented Gina Rodriguez).
9. What has been the best advice you’ve been given while working on a project?
The best advice I’ve been given while working on a project is that acting is all about listening.
10. What has been your favorite project to work on so far and why?
My favorite project so far is Jane the Virgin because I got to be a part of a project that showed Latinx in such beautiful and loving way with strong, good women and amazing men by their side.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
