Alex Wilson plays the role of Christian Newman on The Young and the Restless. He has appeared in several episodes and been involved in a custody storyline since making his debut on the show this past summer.
1. How did you get into the industry?
I was walking in a store when someone approached my parents and asked if I could attend an acting school. It was at that school that I met my agents and quickly began filming my first commercial.
2. What was the casting process like for The Young and the Restless?
My agents sent me some sides (lines) to memorize and I auditioned for a small group of people at the CBS studio. A couple of days later we got a phone call from my agent to say that I booked the role of Christian Newman, and the next morning I was on set filming my first episode.
3. Who was the first person you met on your first day?
I first met Mr. Tom who is one of the stage managers. He introduced me to the studio teacher. Then I met Amelia Heinle who plays Victoria Newman in hair and makeup.
4. What is it like to be part of an iconic soap and a big storyline?
It’s cool and the farther you go the more things you learn. It’s a good way to make people proud. There are lots of sets. Everyone there is kind. The costumes are nice and there are so many people. It is fun to see the different people do their jobs.
5. What is the best part of working with Joshua Morrow?
We play together, do handshakes and sometimes we do thumb war. We played football together. We talk about baseball and we both like the Angels. Also, we both like soccer. He makes me laugh.
6. How do you like working Judah Mackey?
He is really fun. He plays with me and we do homework together. While we are on breaks we see how many times in a row we can catch a ball. We got to eat brownies together and ice cream too.
7. What is it like working with Melissa Claire Egan?
Every time I look at her she smiles down at me, and it makes me want to smile back. I always give her a hug.
8. What do you like to do to pass the time at the studio?
I like to do homework and play with Judah. Sometimes there are other kids to play with too. I also play cards.
9. What has been your favorite episode to do so far?
The Halloween episode was my favorite to film, because we got a lot of candy and I got to keep my costume. There were a lot of kids and decorations on set.
10. Have you done any projects outside of the show?
I filmed several sketches for Jimmy Kimmel Live, including “Baby Bachelorette” and “Baby Bachelor in Paradise.” I also filmed one episode of Amazon’s “Undone,” and several commercials for Little Tikes. My first commercial was for Juicy Juice.
