2019 – Alex Jayne Go

Alex Jayne Go played the role of Sofi in an episode of General Hospital last year. This year she has been busy with episodes of Teachers, Dollface, and look for her in the new year on both Good Trouble and Good Girls!

1. Do you remember your first audition? How did you prepare?
I remember auditioning for my first SAG commercial booking. The note said to look like a tough lawyer, so I prepared by learning my lines, and picking out a lavender shirt, a purple tie, purple pants, and fake glasses. Can you tell I love fashion? 🙂

2. What are some of the differences in doing voice over work?
In voiceover, you can change your voice and pretend to be any age or any character. In Amazon Prime’s Little Big Awesome (S1E2 “What’s the Trouble, Bubble?”), I played a lost floating bubble that turned out to be an evil mastermind. Mwaahhahahahaaaa. Lol.

3. What was the best part of filming your Visit California commercial?
I have been a fan of Visit California commercials for a long time. They are always so clever, and creative, and beautifully shot. So when I booked, I was sooo excited. It was the first time I traveled by plane for a job (Goat Rock State Beach). And when we returned to Southern California, we filmed at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood. It was after park hours and we had the whole Harry Potter area and Universal Studios to ourselves. It was a pretty magical night.

4. If you could do any project alongside your sister what would it be?
Any project with her would be so cool. Sometimes we stay up late chatting about ideas. Recently, Riley Go wrote and shot a Youtube sketch called “If My Period Was a Person” https://youtu.be/vJgsFV38tTk — It’s really funny. I hope everyone checks it out. 🙂

5. When working on a show like Teachers do you and the other kids ever find yourselves playing around on set?
With all the wires and equipment, it’s not really a good idea to run around on set. For safety, playing card games like UNO is a better idea. Sometimes, the studio teachers bring fun games as well.

The episode Landon Gordon and I worked on for TV Land’s Teachers (S3E11 “Thoughts and Bears”) was really important because it’s a satire for school shootings. But instead of guns, it’s a bear. BTW, congratulations to Landon on his new Disney show, Sulphur Springs!

6. How did you enjoy booking and working on Good Trouble after your sister has done a couple of episodes?
First, let me say that I love trying on clothes anyway. But shout out to the costume department for adding music during the fitting, because it felt like I was in the middle of a movie shopping-for-outfits montage party!

Second, I love Freeform’s Good Trouble and all of the characters (especially Riley Go!). The writers, directors and actors combine “sad” and “funny” really well. Our director was so sweet, and also, I met a new friend on set. We play friends on the show. I’ll mention more info when the episode airs in 2020.

7. What was your time on set like filming Dollface?
We were pretending to be at a women’s rally, so we were in the middle of LA with a lot of women for that particular scene. I like to run. And we got to run — but as part of the scene — and with a specific path to avoid bumping into people or tripping on equipment.

The cast and crew were incredibly nice. I loved meeting Kat Dennings and the Cat Lady!! I also enjoyed hanging out with Carsyn Rose, who is now recurring on The Rookie. I’m so thankful to have been a part of Hulu’s Dollface, because it is fresh, imaginative, AND it celebrates “Girl friendships.”

8. How did you like working with Kat Dennings?
I’ve loved watching Kat Dennings on Two Broke Girls. She is so pretty and so nice. She started acting as a kid and she’s now the BOSS! We got to ride in the same shuttle, and that was cool. She remembers working with my sister from Two Broke Girls and that was really sweet.

9. What has been your favorite project to work on this year and why?
So. Many. Favorites. I’ve been fortunate to have worked on several projects that are coming out in 2020. For the ones that have aired this year, I really enjoyed working on a Walmart commercial as Elsa (Frozen), and Hulu’s Dollface, because I really liked the hairstyles.

10. Is there anything you can share about your upcoming episode of Good Girls?
Since I shouldn’t talk about projects that haven’t aired yet, I’ll just say… I loved the cast and crew of Good Girls. They made my time with them so memorable. The costume supervisor even gave me a tour of how they organize and tag all the clothes.
