2018 – Patrick Gibbons Jr

Patrick Gibbons Jr played the role of Sam Manning on One Life to Live. He has since done some live theater work and this past summer made his way to Port Charles for series of episodes as Wyatt Hoover on General Hospital!

1. What was the experience like being involved in Mothers and Sons?
It was different then TV because if you missed a line there is no way to re-shoot, I felt the pressure to get it right and liked it because it motivated me to want to get every line perfect.

2. Were you nervous at all doing live theater?
not really, because the rehearsals for 2 months everyday prepared me, and then tech week really showed me what it would be like. We rehearsed 6 days and even on Superbowl Sunday until Midnight which was fun.

3. What was it like to get to work with Michael Learned?
Unbelievable and extraordinary. We really had an instant connection that the fans said they could see on stage. What an honor to work with a TV legend. She has actually remained in my life. I’ve been out to see her twice to her home and have plans to go out to Beverly Hills very soon to visit with her again.

4. What was the best part of traveling to LA to film General Hospital?
Bringing back my happy memories on One Life to Live and being able to make new ones with the General Hospital family. My favorite part was getting to work with Frank Valentini again, I was lucky enough to have him direct 3 of the episodes I was in this summer. Frank is very close to me and my family.

5. How did it come to be that you’d be working on GH?
Well we have never lost touch with Frank and he had an idea that he thought would be perfect for me, so last spring he called my mother and ran the idea by her and we were just over the moon with excitement.

6. What was the best part of filming with Michael Easton?
It was fun working with my favorite detective buddy solving more mysteries, but this time instead of Llanview it was in Port Charles.

7. How did you enjoy working with Wes Ramsey?
It was great because he treated me like a soap opera veteran. Each time I finished a scene he gave me a high five or a fist bump and said I did a great job. I was really impressed with how easily he memorized his monologue.

8. What was the experience like working with Roger Howarth again?
It was amazing to be back working with my favorite TV partner. It felt like the old times. During those days Roger and I always had a lot of chemistry on and off set.

9. How different was it to be on the GH set vs the OLTL set?
It was a huge difference, the GH set was about 3 times bigger then the One Life set. There were so many different sets that it blew my mind. I also loved the commissary, where I met John Stamos. He said he watched me on set and loved my acting. I felt lucky to get that feedback from such a great actor.

10. What else have you been up to?
I’m continuing with my guitar lessons which I started when I was 4. I am playing Ice Hockey on two teams and I also recently applied to a private local high-school.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I love acting and hope to have more opportunities to continue to do this professionally.
