2018 – Marlowe Peyton

Marlowe Peyton Melody on Parenthood and Tanner on The Neighbors. This year she has been busy behind the scenes producing her own content including her award winning animated film Parker Bubblegum!

1. What was the experience like being involved in Planeman?
Planeman was an extremely fun project to be involved with especially because most of my friends were in it. I helped with the character design and with animation of the final short. It was been very satisfying to have all of our hard work recognized by so many big festivals.

2. What do you like most about working with your close friends on projects?
I have really funny friends and because of that we have a lot of great ideas that we get to bounce off of each other… I think that our friendship is a big reason the final project is being so well received.

3. Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
Alex Hirsch the creator of “Gravity Falls.” He’s a genius.

4. What has been your favorite event to attend this year?
Funimation’s “My Hero Academia” North American Premier was the highlight for sure.

5. What inspired you to get behind the camera and start producing your own content?
Alex Hirsch being my huge inspiration made me realize that I really wanted to involved in the world of animation. As an artist I love to create characters and story telling for me was the next step.

6. How did the concept for Parker Bubblegum come about?
I was trying to taking a nap and I started to doze off and all of the sudden Parker popped into my head, that was the beginning.

7. What process did you go through bringing your script to screen?
It was a two year long process of procrastination, missed deadlines and hard work.

8. How did you choose the cast for your film?
Well when your surrounded by a bunch of talented voice actor friends it’s easy!

9. What was the most challenging part of creating your film?
The animation took two years and I will probably never do puppet animation project again.

10. How did you react when you heard Parker Bubblegum was nominated for the best children’s film?
I absolutely freaked out! The nomination was almost unbelievable but me winning was the most surreal thing I’ve ever felt.
