2018 – Madeleine Valencia

Madeleine Valencia is a young actress and model in the New York City area. She has been seen in commercials for Spin Master, Xyzal and chances are you saw her image up in Lego Stores across the country last year during the holiday season!

1. What was your time on set like shooting for Spin Master/Zoomer Zups?
I had a really good time on the set. They had amazing snacks and I made friends with the other girls on the set. We played video games and chatted the whole time.

2. How did you react when you saw the commercial for the first time?
I thought we were never going to see it, especially because I thought it was for Toys R us and they went out of business! I’m glad it came out! I thought the colors in the commercial were very pretty and pinky!

3. What was the best part of working for Scholastic?
The best part of working with Scholastic was I got to go home with a ton of books and I started the school year having read a ton of books!

4. What was the experience like filming for Hot Pockets?
Hot Pockets was a super long day. We filmed 4 spots in one day! It was fun! We worked on a green screen. I even got to dress like like a cave girl from prehistoric times! My big brother on the set went out hunting hot pockets! It was also filmed in Spanish and English! That was pretty cool too. It was my first Spanish Language job!

5. How did you enjoy using a green screen for the shoot?
The green screen was so fun- they showed us what would be projected…a little box was going to eventually be a microwave, and for the prehistoric times, there would be a dinosaur!

6. What was your time on set like working on your Xyzal commercial?
It was Fu-Rreezing that day. We kept having to take breaks to go inside and get warm. I was only wearing a sweater, but it was definitely ski jacket weather!

7. What was your holiday shoot for Lego like?
Lego is my favorite company! My sister and I were in every store window last year and this year I am all over the web in a commercial for the Lego Firehouse. The Lego people are always so nice! and um…great craft services!

8. How did you feel seeing your image up in stores across the country?
It was so cool to have people take their picture with me and my sister in front of different stores all over the country and send them to us. We went all the way to Chicago with my mom to check out a window for Macy’s that my aunt had sent us a picture of – because my mom had her first job at Marshall Field – the building which is now Macy’s. But! they took it down literally the night before! So instead, I took a picture with myself at the Lego store at Water Tower Place! My mom worked there too. She’s had lots of jobs I guess.

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?
I had a lot of fun on set with Rafael Clemente and Alyssa Lorraine for a headshot shoot. The bonus was playing with their pugs afterward. I’m happiest around puppies. Rafael and Alyssa are very nice and I felt very comfortable and I got some great pictures!

10.Is there anything you can share about your Lego commercial?
Well! Its finally out so I guess I can share everything! I am super excited because i got to say a LINE! I feel like I really got to act in this commercial because its a very warm and Christmassy moment that I share with my dad and grandpa- who as actors happen to be super duper cool. They celebrated with me because for this shoot, I had to join SAG/AFTRA. We posed for a picture with our union cards. We are a proud union family and everyone in my family belongs to a union. My mom tells me all about how important unions are for workers rights.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I think this year is going to be amazing and I’m super excited for new opportunities.
