Elijah Nelson played the role of Matt King in an episode of Touch. This year he has been seen on American Housewife, worked on the film The Unhealer and more!
1. How did you get started acting?
My dad has always had a deep love for movies. So when I was about three years old, he put me and my siblings into acting classes to see if any of us enjoyed it. Sure enough, I loved every second of it, and at four years old I booked my first commercial. Haven’t looked back since 😊
2. What was your time on set like filming Bizaardvark?
So, so fun. The whole cast including Olivia, Madison, Ethan, and Devore were so kind and inviting. And I was able to work with Jake Paul while he was still on the show. Honestly, I had no idea who Jake Paul was at the time, I just knew that he was pretty cool guy.
3. Which do you enjoy more, acting in a drama or a comedy?
Ah, that’s such a hard question, I love exploring both ways of telling a story. I think off of pure enjoyment, I enjoy comedy more. I just love making people laugh and smile.
4. What has been the best advice you have received from a co-star over the years?
Man that’s a hard one! Recently Adam Beach talked to me about being the lead of a project, and the responsibility of it as sort of a leader. And to not run away from it, because if you can do it well, there’s great admiration that comes from it. And that you can be a sort of beacon of example for everyone else to look to. He really had an impact on me.
5. What was your experience like filming your episode of American Housewife?
That one was really special! Meg is just the nicest person ever, and the whole set was super cool. That episode also had a lot of Firefly references, including Nathan Fillion himself on the episode. And as a big Firefly fan myself, that was really fun.
6. How did you like working with Katy Mixon?
I have so much respect for her. As the lead of the show, she set a tone of kindness and respect for the whole set. And did the whole thing while big pregnant!! Loved getting to watch her work.
7. What is the best part of filming a recurring role?
Filming a recurring role is really cool, because you get to return to a character you already know, and people you already know.
8. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with recently?
Oh gosh, the whole cast of my new movie, The Unhealer. Lance Hendrickson, Adam Beach, Natasha Henstridge, and the whole teen cast that I’m fortunate enough to now call my good friends. I learned so much from all of them, it shocked me each and every day that I was blessed to work with them all.
10. Which role that you have played has been the most challenging so far?
Also The Unhealer. The role challenged me physically, and brought me to emotional depths I didn’t know I could do. I really think that it’s going to be a great movie.
