Star-Kidz

Abigail Eckstein is the younger sister of Alex, Ben and Caleb who played Spike on All My Children. This year she has been seen for Masala Baby and you may recognize her from ABC’s hilarious game show Child Support!

1. How did you enjoy shooting for Masala Baby?
I really enjoyed it!! I got to work with Elizabeth Pettey and she’s always so nice. She had a bunch of fun accessories like necklaces and sunglasses. I got to jump around and do some fun moves! The outfits were so comfy and colorful!! There were a lot of kids I knew there like Juliana and I also made new friends. I even got to play with one girl’s little baby sister. We danced ring around the rosie in between shoots. I wear my Masala Baby pajamas all the time that I got from that shoot!

2. What was the experience like returning to Child Support for season two?
It was really fun bc I got to see some familiar faces (my friends from season 1 – Clark, Eli, Nathan, JeCobi, Brayden and Sophia) and meet some new friends too!! I love making new friends. We were in a new location to shoot and a whole week this time. I was in the “night owl” group this year and got to work a lot with Nathan and Halen! I was so excited to see Sabrina , Dina (the lady who picks out my amazing outfits!!), and Rane again this season!! They are part of the executive producer team and make the experience sooo much more fun!! I made a new friend too- everyone says he looks like Usher. He was always with us on set and taking us to and from our hotel.

3. How did you react when you found out they asked you back?
It was AMAZING!! I was so incredibly happy! I wasn’t sure which friends were going to be there and I was looking forward to seeing them again because they were all amazing! Of course I was looking forward to sitting down with Ricky again. We have so much fun! I got to see Sage during the audition process too! She was with us all thru Season 1!

4. What was it like seeing your friends again from the first season?
I had no idea who was coming until we got to NYC. When we were checking in and meeting with Sabrina and Rane we ran into Sophia and Eli and slowly others started showing up! It was like a huge surprise every time!! I spent a lot of time on and off set with Sophia and her family and a lot of time on set with Nathan and Brayden. While we were super excited to spend time together, we wanted to make sure the new kids felts welcomed and it didn’t take long before we were all spending time together .

5. How did you spend your time between shooting?
While we were on set there was a ton to do! We had all sorts of games and arts & crafts. We also had to put school time in. I brought a bunch of school work with me so I was sometimes busy with that. We also had fun taking photos so we could remember all our friends and the memories.

After we were done shooting for the day – that’s when even more fun happened!! One of the first nights we went to a burger place that also has the most AMAZING shakes ever!! I also went to TWO Broadway shows. The first one my mom and I went with Sophia and her mom and dad to see Anastasia. We even stayed after to get autographs. My mom helped arrange a really fun outing to the Nat Geo Encounters for a bunch of us!! It was a really cool experience. We also took a trip to Times Square and Madame Tussaud’s wax museum with Sophia, her family, JeCobi & his family too! We took a photo of the 3 of us holding our future Oscar’s 😁 On the last night my mom planned something fun for us and it was a surprise!! She took me to see Frozen and it was amazing! Even thought it was late we stayed for autographs and pictures and then got ice cream.

6. How did you enjoy working with a new group of kids this season?
It was a lot of fun! They were all so funny and smart. It was neat to meet people from all over! Halen’s accent was fun! Gracen is SO cute! I played a lot with them, Daniel, Dior, Vivienne, Brody, Giddeon, and Kaiden too! It was fun having a lot of fun girls to play with since I have all those brothers!

7. What is your favorite part about being on the show?
EVERYTHING!! Its just so fun! We get to be silly and laugh a lot. Everyone is so incredibly nice! I like sharing jokes with Ricky, being on set with my friends, and answering questions so that adults can win some money. There are so many favorite parts! My friends – old and new, the fun on set, and all the adventures in NYC. I had fun on Friday nights watching how the shows came together and when my friends and I were able to help adults! I cheered on everyone and my family was always so proud of me.

8. Has there ever been a time you couldn’t continue to answer questions cause you were all having too much fun laughing?
Yes! I told Ricky a joke – “why does a duck have feathers” ? “To cover its butt quack!!” And we kept laughing so much!

9. What else have you been up to this year?
I have been up to life 🙂. I just finished my cheer season where I was on a competition squad. We took 1st place twice and 2nd once! I am also in a local choir and we have had several performances. I am currently preparing to perform at the Gershwin Theater on Broadway with them this summer as part of the Autism Gala! I cannot wait!! I am pulling straight A’s in school and keeping my fingers crossed for Season 3 of Child Support!!
