2017 – Rowan Smyth

Rowan Smyth did multiple episodes of Days of Our Lives. This year he was seen in an episode of Teachers and his film I Believe is now available on DVD!

1. How did you prepare for performing in the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards?

We had an all-day rehearsal the day before. There were a lot of us on stage so we had to learn our spacing and cues. It was a fun job to work because I have watched the awards many times and it felt so awesome to be up there.

2. What was the best part of working on your film Dismissed?

It was such a nice crew. I got to meet Dylan Sprouse (who I play in a flashback) which was exciting because my brother and I used to watch Suite Life a lot when we were younger.

3. What was it like to attend the screening at the San Diego International Film Festival?

So fun! They introduced the cast after the film and brought us up for a Q&A session at the end. It was so interesting to hear from the filmmakers and the vision for the movie.

4. How did you enjoy working on Comedy Bang! Bang!?

I had worked with the director on a commercial before so it was fun because I already kind of knew him. I also got to work with Weird Al who was really nice. My parents showed me some of his old videos from when they were kids so it was fun to meet him after that.

5. What was your experience like working on Teachers?

Teachers is such a funny show. The Series Regulars also produce the show so it’s really cool to see them all work and put so much into the show.

6. How did you like working with Kathryn Thomas?

She was great. I had to cry in the scene so she gave me some advice which was really nice.

7. How did you react when you booked I Believe?

There were quite a few callbacks and chemistry reads before I booked it so that added to the anticipation. I was SO excited when I heard. I really felt connected to the character so I was hoping it was meant to be (and it was!).

8. What was your time on set like working on the film?

Amazing! The other actors were so talented and I learned a lot. To get to be a lead in a film at my age felt really incredible.

9. How would you describe your character Brian Webber?

Brian is smart, curious and he loves his family. He was also very conflicted in the film because he was learning about God and became a Christian but his father didn’t support it.

10. Is there anything you can share about your role in Saturday at the Starlight?

I’m not sure what I am allowed to share but I can say it was fun filming and will be a funny movie.
