2016 – Emily Skinner

 

Emily Skinner played the role of Kim Marston on Days of Our Lives. This year she has done episodes of Angel From Hell, Rizzoli & Isles, and will be seen in the series Andi Mack next year! To keep up to date make sure to follow her on Instagram.

 

1. What was your experience like working on Days of Our Lives?

I had so much fun working on Days of Our Lives! The cast and crew were kind and helpful, and it gave me such an appreciation for how talented the actors are! I was very young, and was only there for one day, but loved being there!

2. How did you like working with Kristian Alfonso?

I remember thinking Kristian was very beautiful and looked up to her because she is an incredible actress… something I have always aspired to be! She was very sweet and took the time to pose with me for a picture after I was done, even though she was very busy rehearsing and getting ready for the next scene.

3. What was it like filming with Lauren Boles?

I got to spend a little time with Lauren that day, rehearsing and shooting. She has a beautiful smile and is easy to talk too! It was fun playing opposite her because her acting felt so real and natural.

4. How did you enjoy filming your Doritos commercials?

I absolutely loved filming those Doritos commercials! I did three of them, Birthday Wish and Chainsaw were directed by Kevin Willson and Fluffy was directed by Chau Luu! One funny moment I remember was when we were filming Fluffy, the dog kept running away during the picnic scene and we were all cracking up!

5. What was the experience like working on Criminal Minds?

I was sooo excited to get to work on this show! I didn’t actually watch the show at that time, because I was too young, but I had auditioned for it a few times before and knew it would be amazing to get to work on it! The cast was very friendly and the woman who played my mom was very caring and sweet!

6. What was your time on set like filming for Angel from Hell?

I was so excited to meet Jane Lynch because I watch her on Glee and think she is hilarious! I thought I might not get to meet her because she wasn’t in my scene, but then she showed up and I was lucky enough to get to talk to her a little and take a picture with her!

7. How did you enjoy filming your episode of Rizzoli and Isles?

Being on Rizzoli and Isles was a wonderful experience, even though I had to die. It was my first experience playing a character who dies on a Network show, and I found the whole process interesting. The only gross thing is how sticky you feel from the fake blood! You REALLY appreciate hair and make up and I learned that shaving cream can remove the fake blood from my hair!

8. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with so far?

This is a really tough question because I haven’t ever had a bad experience… and am thrilled every time I book something and get to be on set! One of my favorite favorite memories was working on the Jessica Biel directed short film Sodales with Tyler Wilkins! I loved filming everything outdoors… it felt so adventurous! Jessica was such a great director and I just loved her so much! I couldn’t wait to come to set every day and work with this cast and crew! Another amazing experience for me was working with director Julius Onah on the music video and short film Broken Arrows (song by Aviicii). I don’t even know how to explain how safe and comfortable I felt acting on this set amongst this cast and crew! Joshua Fredric Smith played my Dad and is just such a beautiful person inside and out! It was a magical experience for me and I left feeling proud of my work and inspired to book more film work!

9. What has been your favorite project to work on so far?

I love working on Disney shows! Shake It Up and Austin and Ally were a ton of fun! Shake it up was especially fun because we got to do a live taping on the last day! I also got to pet and spend time with a real kangaroo on Austin and Ally! Who wouldn’t like that? Working on Nickelodeon’s Sam and Cat was a blast too! It was amazing to work with Ariana Grande, Jennette McCurdy, and Cameron Ocasio… and such an honor to be directed by Dan Schneider! There was a lot of laughter and talent on this set and I still hang out with Griffin Kane, the boy who played my on set brother, when he flies into town!

10. Is there anything you can share about your role on Andi Mack?

I am not supposed to reveal much about my character on Andi Mack or the show itself but I can tell you that playing the role of Amber has definitely been one of my favorite experiences so far as an actress… everyone is going to love this show! It is written by Terri Minsky who wrote Lizzie McGuire, and the story is amazing… You will fall in love with the characters! The lead cast are some of my favorite people and I am always so excited when I get to fly out and spend time with them!!!!
