2016 – Dylan Mueller

 

Dylan Mueller did an episode of season two of The Jim Gaffigan Show and is the older brother of Declan who played Joseph. To keep up to date make sure to keep checking back here at the site.

 

 

1. How did you get started in the industry?

When my brother Declan was first being recruited and signing with an agency, I was in one of the pictures they asked my mother to send them and the agency representative noticed me and asked my mother if I was interested in signing too. I have never really gone “all out” in terms of trying to make it in the industry, but it has been cool to have gone to auditions on occasion and get to see how things work.

2. How did you react to being cast in a production of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory?

I was proud. I was actually a little surprised they gave me such a good role!

3. What was rehearsal like?

I’m a cross country runner and a wrestler and I also play cello, all things that take a lot of practice. It was interesting to go through the theater rehearsal process because it was so similar to practices for those other activities in that it was fun but also tiring and difficult. Repetition leads to success.

4. Were you nervous at all on opening night?

SO nervous!

5. What was your favorite part of the show?

There was one part of the show where I had a very brief solo. Even though it was the part that made me the most nervous, it was also the most exciting and I was glad after each time it was over with!

6. What was your experience like working on The Jim Gaffigan Show?

A few things. First of all, it was so cool to be where my brother worked. He was so little and acted so well and everyone liked him. I was really proud to be his brother and be on set. Second, everyone was so nice there, from the actors to the extras to the people behind the scenes. Third, the first time I went was for the filming of the episode in the American Museum of Natural History. It is such a huge, famous, busy place that filming was done overnights after the museum was closed to the public for the day and it was really interesting to be there after hours- a real-life Night at the Museum. Fourth, it was just so interesting to be around all the people who make the show and the real cameras, microphones and heavy equipment. Last, it was also interesting to see how much time and effort goes into just a few seconds of what we see on television. They really work hard and make sure everything is perfect.

7. How did you like seeing yourself on television?

Even though there were only a bunch of glimpses of me, it is really hard to describe that feeling in words. It was pretty amazing.

8. If you could do any other project with your brother what would it be?

I would love to be able to work on something in which Declan and I play brothers- or at least best friends.

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?

Jim Gaffigan. Here was this guy who the show is named after, he is involved in every single part of making the show, his whole family is there, it’s the middle of the night- yet here he was chatting with me and being friendly. I thought that was really cool.

10. If you could work on any project next year what would it be?

I would love the opportunity to get to do some voice-over work. I think that is a strength of mine and also an interest, so I would really love the opportunity to be the voice on a commercial or of a cartoon character.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Not really, just thanks for always being nice to me and my brother and we hope everyone enjoys their holidays.
