Caroline Valencia is a young actress and model from the New York City area. She has been seen in multiple commercials, shoots for Toys R Us, and is in Zoolander 2! To keep up to date make sure to visit her official website, like her page on Facebook and follow her on Instagram!
1. How did Caroline get started in the industry?
Caroline followed in the steps of her big sister, Madeleine, and started to go on auditions at age 2. She was successful right away. We decided to look for a manager, and found the very best: Colette Palmerio of CP Talent. With Colette’s guidance, Caroline has starred in several commercials, print campaigns and even a major motion picture! She is only 4 years old and has done a lot! She recently joined SAG-AFTRA, the professional actor’s union.
2. What was her time on set like filming her Chevron commercial?
Caroline loves working with a crew. She becomes their buddy! She loved riding the tricycle during the Chevron shoot, and the director let her keep it!
3. What was the best part of filming for Publix?
The Publix shoot was super fun because Caroline got to fly (first class!) to Florida for filming, which meant a nice hotel with a swimming pool! On set, she got to eat ice cream cone after ice cream cone! As soon as it melted, she got a fresh one! The ice cream was definitely the best part of the shoot, but she didn’t eat ice cream again for a few weeks. She still remembers that it was Salted Caramel!
4. How did Caroline enjoy shooting for The Christmas Tree Shops?
Caroline did an Easter shoot for Christmas Tree Shops which involved an Easter Egg Hunt. She got to find hidden eggs, and at the end got to keep some chocolate, so she had a great time!
5. Do you have a favorite Toys R Us shoot that she has done?
Caroline’s favorite Toys R Us shoot was for a swing set. She became reunited with Melanie Sawyer the “baby wrangler” from her NY 529 commercial shoot. Melanie always makes it fun for the kids, so Caroline had a great time both with her and playing on the swing set with her buddies.
6. What was the experience like for Caroline to film for Zoolander 2?
Caroline practiced the Zoolander face all the way to her first audition because Mom is a fan of the first movie, and well, just in case! it paid off! That is exactly what they wanted her to do during the audition! She had a call back where she got to audition for Ben stiller himself! She liked him very much. On the day of the shoot, Mr. Stiller greeted her and said, “Hi Caroline, remember me? I’m Ben.” He was wearing the same sweater (costume) as she was wearing for the on camera Zoolander family Christmas photo. She commented, “Hey! You’re wearing my sweater!” and made the set crew laugh. They did a quick practice of the Zoolander face together, and then they walked to the set together. It was magical. When we got back to Caroline’s dressing room, I noticed that the scene she had shot was called “Happy Holidays from the Valencia-Zoolanders. Penelope Cruz’s Character was named “Valentina Valencia.” It just happens that Valencia is our last name! Its’s such a crazy coincidence! She will always be a Valencia-Zoolander!
7. How did she like working with Ben Stiller and Penélope Cruz?
Caroline absolutely loved Ben Stiller. He was a pleasure to work with, and he made it fun for her. He was very friendly, and very dad-like. She shot with Penelope Cruz’s double, but every time she sees Penelope in a Lancome ad she says “that’s my pretend mommy.” She also refers to Ben Stiller as, “My friend Ben.”
8. What was her shoot for Flinstone’s Vitamins like?
Caroline had a great time on set for Flinstone’s. She did a print “story board” for a future commercial piece called “Tooth Fairy.” Caroline was photographed showing her on set mom that her tooth fell out. The actress that she worked with made it very fun and believable. Caroline loves the “pretend” part of acting.
9. Who have been Caroline’s favorite people to work with so far?
Hands down, her favorite person to work with has been Ben Stiller. She mentions it every chance she gets! We went to an Italian restaurant in Little Italy soon after shooting. She noticed that there were a lot of actor head shots on the walls. When the manager came over to say hello to our table, she let him know that she is an actress and that she would like to bring her picture to the restaurant to put up on the wall. He said she could (after she name dropped Ben Stiller and Zoolander 2) We have not made it back there, but she does remind me every so often!
10. What has been Caroline’s favorite project to do so far?
Zoolander 2 was her favorite project, but a close second was the NY 529 commercial where she got to jump on the bed! She also got to dance and jump on couches for her Walmart commercial which she filmed with her sister. She was very excited to shoot with her sister.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Caroline knows that when she is on set, she is working. She really enjoys her work, and gets very excited every time she has an audition. She tells me that she can’t wait to be a ” real actress.” When I tell her that she is in fact is a real actress, she says, “This is just practice.” Look out world!
We’d like to thank Caroline and her family for participating in our November Q&A series!
