Tyree Brown played the role of Jabbar on Parenthood. This year he has also been seen for Quaker/Nerf, and been busy working on films such as Operation: Neighborhood Watch! To keep up to date make sure to visit his website, follow him on Twitter, and follow him on Instagram.
1. What was the process like doing your shoot for Quaker/Nerf?
That was a really fun shoot. We were doing the shoot at a person’s house in their backyard which was huge and had a trampoline in the ground and a treehouse. So we got to play on the trampoline most of the day and the photographer would just have us jump with other kids and throw the nerf balls to each other while he was taking our picture. It didn’t feel like work.
2. What was your time on set like filming Operation: Neighborhood Watch!?
I made lifelong friends on the set of Operation Neighborhood Watch and we are still in touch on a weekly basis. We shot almost every day for three weeks in Fullerton on a street and rotated shooting between three different houses. The crew was so funny and nice to us and we hung out in between scenes. I loved the treehouse we got to film in also! I think the best part was when we got to see a real lion which came to set for half of one day that we were shooting.
3. How did you enjoy lending your voice to an episode of Mack & Moxy?
Oh, Mack & Moxy was so colorful and bright and the characters were amazing! It is part live action and part animated so doing both was fun but I had more fun doing the live action dancing and singing with the characters. I think kids are really going to LOVE this new show!
4. What was your time on set like filming Untitled Monica Potter pilot?
When we rehearsed for the Untitled Monica Potter pilot, I got to meet some new and funny actors. I like watching and learning from comedic actors. I also met a wonderful boy who was only 5 or 6 years old and we became really close. It’s so different working on a comedy than a drama show.
5. What was it like working with Monica Potter again?
I was so happy to be able to work with Monica again cuz she is like family to me. She is so funny and one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Her daughter Molly is so sweet and funny too just like her mom.
6. What was the experience like working on The Nerd Possee pilot?
We haven’t officially finished the Nerd Posse pilot yet but we have filmed short things for a trailer. All the kids get along so well and we are all so goofy and crazy in our own way and that is why that show is special.
7. What was it like filming the baseball scene for the Parenthood series finale?
Oh man……that was a crazy day. Everyone was there and was happy signing each others yearbooks at first and then near the end, we were all crying and hugging each other. I actually had a headache after that day because there were so many emotions that day. I will forever be grateful for being on such a wonderful show with the best people in the world.
8. What did you think about the glimpse into Jabbar’s future?
I like that I would have more siblings but I would like a dog too! We don’t have a dog in real life but I want one.
9. What was your last day on set of Parenthood like?
The last day for me was the baseball scene when we were both happy and sad all at the same time. They will always be family to me.
10. What was your all time favorite scene to film for the series?
I loved any scenes with all of the cast because that didn’t happen very often. I was lucky to work with such great people that it seemed like every day was a party for me.
We’d like to thank Tyree for participating in this year’s Holiday Q&A Event!
