2015 – Liam Carroll

 

Liam Carroll appeared in a 2014 episode of The Neighbors and this year has been busy working on The Detour! To keep up to date make sure to follow him on Instagram.

 

 

1. What was the experience like going on your first audition?

I was nervous but when the audition started, I was suddenly very comfortable and relaxed.

2. How did you get involved in performing at Family Theater, Inc?

A family friend runs the theater and so getting involved was easy because my friends were all joining the theater productions with me. Once I got involved I loved it! It was a lot of fun to put on a production with my friends and the crew.

3. What was your time on set like filming The Neighbors?

Since this was my first role on a television show, I didn’t know what to expect. Everyone was so friendly and made it easy for me to work. I have luckily had great cast and crews so far, which made the job very cool to do.

4. How did you feel when seeing yourself in the episode?

I was afraid that I would look funny. Seeing myself on TV is kind of weird because it’s you but it’s not really you. You’re in character and it’s all acting like someone else. That’s the best way I can explain it.

5. What was the best part of filming your Hefty commercial?

It was actually a really funny commercial. I got to throw a bag with trail mix around and then it spills all over my head! It wasn’t a huge stretch for me because I am always acting goofy and that is something that I would do at home. I just showed up on set and did my best impression of my silly self.

6. How do you learn your lines for your projects?

Honestly, I am really bad at learning my lines. In fact, I rarely have them memorized before shooting but don’t tell anyone that. I first read the script and get a feel for what the character is like. Then, I try to understand what makes the scene funny or dramatic or whatever. Once I understand the scene, the lines come naturally and often times I can change the lines to something that I feel more comfortable saying. It works for me.

7. How did you react when you booked The Detour?

I was actually with my parents at TBS and we didn’t know what to do. We understood it was a big deal but what could we do. We just hugged and asked ourselves, “Did that really just happen?” The funny thing is… the girls were still auditioning for the role of Delilah so it was a tense time as I got to read with each girl. When I read with Ashley, I knew she would be the one.

8. What has the experience been like traveling to film the series?

It was a great experience but I realized very quickly that we were there to work. I had 6am call times and other days getting back to our condo at 2am. Then up to work again the next morning. Atlanta was really cool but I think I’ll stay in LA for now.

9. How do you like working with Ashley Gerasimovich?

Are you kidding!? We worked perfectly together. Then way we hung out between shoots – it was like we were family in real life. Most of the time we were the only kids on set so we spent a lot of time together. She was such a good actor and professional that I had a hard time keeping up with her pace. I am thankful for her helping me learn the ropes on my first show.

10. What can you share about your character Jared?

What can I say… Jared is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he has “street smarts.” Actually, he doesn’t have that either. I really enjoyed the character. It was a lot of fun doing silly things and getting in trouble. It’s like doing things which normally would get you in trouble but because it’s on TV you don’t get grounded!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I want to mention how awesome Jason Jones and Natalie Zea were to work with. I had so much fun with them and all the other cast and crew members. This summer was the best summer ever and I have everyone on set to thank.
