2014 – Hannah Nordberg

 

Hannah Nordberg plays the role of Josslyn on GH. This year she’s also been busy working on The Remains and to keep up to date make sure to keep checking back here at the site.

 

 

1. How did you get started in the industry?

“I first started performing in musical theater at age 5 1/2 when I did a local children’s performance of Annie. After that I joined Creative Kids Youth Theater Project directed by Cheryl Beck, and performed in 15 musicals before trying out for my first Broadway shows at age 8. (Annie & Matilda) I made it to one of the very last round of callbacks for the role of Matilda, but I didn’t get the part. A few months later, I auditioned for the role of Olive for the workshop of Little Miss Sunshine, and got it. Then, when they took the show to Off Broadway at the Second Stage Theater, James Lapine, the director, hired me back to play Olive.”

2. What was the experience like playing Olive in Little Miss Sunshine?

“It was the most amazing experience I’ve had in my lifetime so far. I got to work with some of the most talented actors and director and musical genius and crew. They were really grounded and I didn’t think they would be. They helped me become a better actor, and made the whole experience fun, rewarding and better than a dream come true. (Although we really worked hard…several weeks of rehearsals leading up to 72 shows in 62 days! And there were times when I wasn’t allowed to say more than a few words a day – except while on stage – in order to keep my voice healthy and strong.) I’m still in communication with many of them and feel very, very lucky and happy that they are in my life.”

3. What was opening night like?

“Opening night was AMAZING because we finally froze the show (which is when the creative team is done making changes), and we got to perform in front of a crowd of family and friends. I was sooooo happy to see my dad, brother, manager and agents who had come from California to see the show. After there was a really cool opening night party and we all had a blast! We walked the red carpet, gave interviews, took pictures and had great food. It was so fun!”

4. Who has been your biggest inspiration when it comes to your theater roles?

“Stephanie J. Block, who was amazing as my mom in Little Miss Sunshine; and Kristin Chenoweth, who played my dream role of Ga-Linda in Wicked.”

5. How did you react when you found out your booked the role of Josslyn?

“I screamed in the car and had a huge smile on my face that wouldn’t go away. I kept chanting to my mom, who was driving, “Yeah! I’m so excited! This is awesome!”

6. What is your favorite thing about working with Brooklyn, Nicolas and Michael?

“They are so sweet, nice, and are my best friends on set. But my favorite thing about working with them is that I get to build great memories and have fun while doing what I love to do. I always look forward to shooting and seeing them on set.”

7. What is your relationship like with Roger Howarth off set?

“He’s a nice and hilarious man, who makes constant jokes and makes me laugh, but can also get into character and be serious. It makes it really great to work with him.”

8. How do you like working with Laura Wright?

“Oh my gosh, she is so nice! She connects really easily, and is an amazing actor! Laura also helps me by giving me little tips on how to work with the camera, and acting advice. She’s so awesome! I feel really lucky to have her playing my mom!”

9. What is the best part about being a part of General Hospital?

“I get to meet and work with so many talented actors which is really awesome. Also, I get to be a part of something that’s been going on for over fifty years. And just to think of all the great people that have come before me on the show is really cool. Plus, I get to know the story, but am not allowed to tell anybody, especially my grandma, which is kind of funny because she loves GH and I get to know what’s going to happen before she does!”

10. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve done for GH so far?

“The Carly-Franco wedding was really cool, and the milkshake scene was also great because we got to drink a real milkshake that was delicious; but I’d have to say my favorite scene so far was my first one, when I got to kick Franco in the shin and stomp on his foot. I also loved the scene when Lucas and Maxie had to yank me off the couch in my corn costume. It’s fun being a rascally character!”

Is there anything else you would like to add?

“I feel so blessed to have all of these acting opportunities. And I know I couldn’t do it without all the great support I have from all the people in my life, especially my mom. She is the greatest mom in the world! (And my dad and my brother too.)”
