Patrick Gibbons Jr played the role of Sam Manning on One Life to Live. He was key to a huge storyline the show’s last year and is well known for his Spider-Man scenes on the show. To keep up to date make sure to follow him on Twitter!
1. How did Patrick get started in the industry?
Barry Kolker a well known NY talent agent spotted him in his waiting room while Patrick was waiting for his sister Anna, who is an aspiring actress and was meeting with Barry. Barry told his father that he thought he saw something in him, his father thought that it would never work, but Barry and his mother agreed to audition for OLTL and Patrick ended up getting the role. Thru all of this we’ve discovered that Patrick has an amazing ability to retain dialogue.
2. How did Patrick enjoy working with Andrew?
Andrew was fabulous, he is like a real big brother to Patrick…They still stay in touch and have a very strong bond. The set was always a fun place to be especially when Andrew was around.
3. What was it like getting to be Spider-Man?
All the boys in school wanted to know how Patrick fired that web. The best part was working with Robin Strasser. Patrick said I wish Aunt Dorian and Aunt Vicki were my real aunts.
4. What was it like getting to work with Trevor?
Trevor was technically focused on every part of a scene, he really helped Patrick a great deal in understanding how to naturally interact with the other actors in a scene.
5. How did Patrick enjoy working with Kassie?
A nicer woman you will not find, she truly treated Patrick as if he was one of her own. While on set with Patrick she always made sure he was in the right spots and comfortable. It was no different than his own mother would have treated him. Kassie is an includer, always making you feel welcome, that is her strength. Patrick’s mom calls Kassie a “girl’s girl”. She stays in touch and asks about him regularly.
6. What was the best part of working with Roger?
Roger is Patrick’s hero…He is now hooked on the show dancing with the stars because Roger works on GH with Kelly Monaco. Patrick said if Roger works with Kelly I vote for her. Patrick once said Roger could beat his father in a wrestling match. The entire family thought that was hyterical and indicates how strongly he feels for Roger.
7. Outside of the actors playing his family, who were some of Patrick’s favorite people to work with?
Patrick really liked working with Michael Easton and Florencia Lozano. The scenes were always entertaining and natural and the fans seemed to respond positively to those scenes.
8. Has Patrick auditioned for any new projects since One Life To Live ended?
Thanks to super agent Barry Kolker, he has auditioned for many high profile projects like The Three Stooges, Loopers, soon to be released movie; Starbuck with Vince Vaughn & an upcoming ABC series called Trophy Wife. Nothing yet, So he’ll keep plugging away because he loves acting.
9. Does Patrick have a favorite scene he filmed?
He loved that first Christmas scene with Carmen, Kassie Robin and Echo. The cast had a fun time teasing him because he couldn’t pronounce chimney, he called it a “chimmy”
10. What is Patrick’s and your favorite OLTL memory?
The wrap party, Frank was good enough to invite our family. We were able to meet Agnes Nixon. That really brought the whole experience full circle for us.
The treatment little Patrick received from EVERYONE involved with OLTL was unbelievable. They truly treated him as if he were their own 5-6 year old. Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati are two of the finest gentlemen you’d ever meet. Frank and Ron reach out to Patrick at least once a month. Think about that, how busy those two are and they both take time to ask about Patrick’s music lessons and sports team. Patrick’s mother tears up when she talks about those two. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Frank and Ron, and to Agnes Nixon for creating this wonderful 40 plus year gift to the TV world.
The fans have been wonderful. Patrick is on twitter (run by his parents) so his fans can keep up to date with his acting and some fun daily goings on. We just want to thank everyone out there who has enjoyed his time on OLTL and we hope that they’ll get to see him again someday in TV or Movie land.
We’d like to thank Patrick and his family for participating in this year’s Holiday Q&A event!
