Mackenzie Aladjem played the role of Miranda on All My Children. She has been seen in The Lincoln Lawyer, Of Two Minds, The Middle and has just wrapped filming the new season of Nurse Jackie! To keep up to date make sure to follow her on Twitter and check out her page on Facebook!
1. How did you get started in the industry?
When I was about 2 years old my babysitter (a woman whose daughter did the tour of Annie with my older sister Jamie) had me singing and dancing to Annie. I seemed to like it so my parents started me in print and commercials and then when I was 5 I booked my first TV job (Passions). It was so much fun! When I was 6 I auditioned for The National Tour of Annie and was lucky to be cast as Molly, the littlest orphan.
2. What was it like filming your episode of Passions?
I was pretty little so I don’t remember too much. I do remember working with a couple other girls and they were really nice. When I saw the episode I thought it was really strange that the one girl never spoke, just her thoughts appeared in a bubble above her head!
3. Do you prefer print, film or tv roles?
They are all so different. I have been so lucky to work in almost every type of performance: film, TV, theater, print and voiceover. Theater is great because the audience is right there. All types you get “pretend” that you are someone else, and that is kind of cool!
4. How cool is it have a song on iTunes? Will we be hearing more music anytime soon?
It was really exciting when they put my song on iTunes. My parents had given me the opportunity to record a song as one of my Christmas presents, so I get to keep enjoying this one! I’d love to collaborate and record another song-we will have to see what happens this holiday!!
5. If the opportunity came along, would you ever do another national tour on Broadway?
I would love to do another tour and I would love to be on Broadway someday!
6. What was your favorite part of filming The Middle?
It was all so much fun, especially the first episode. I loved having a bunch of kids on set with me. It was fun getting sprayed with those hose by Patricia-luckily the boys got most of it and it was a nice day!
7. How did you enjoy working with Atticus and Patricia Heaton?
Atticus was really nice and easy to work with. I only worked with Patricia for a short time on that one scene (one take because of the water), but she was funny while we were filming.
8. Do you prefer to work in NY or in California?
I love spending time in NYC and working with everyone on Nurse Jackie but LA is my home so that is where I prefer to spend most of my time. When I ma in NY I miss my family, friends and dogs. I really would love to work somewhere out of the country!
9. What was your favorite scene to film for Of Two Minds?
I had such a great time shooting “Of Two Minds”, but if I had to pick one scene it would be when I was spying on my brother. Alex Le Bas played my brother, and we became good friends on set, so it was a great scene when he was yelling at me-kind of emotional. Also, I loved the scene where Tammy Blanchard loses it and starts destroying the house. She is an AMAZING actress-I learned so much from watching her!
10. Do you still keep in touch with any of your AMC co-stars?
I spent the day with Jake, Tate and Danielle at the YAA. I sometimes run into them at auditions which is so great! We keep in touch on FB and Twitter. When I am in NYC I get to see Alicia-she is one of the sweetest people on earth! I really miss Christina and would love to see her!
I just want to say how lucky I am to be able to do what I have done in my life already. I have made so many friends, visited so many places and made memories that will last me a lifetime. I want to continue to grow as an actress and get the opportunity to make many more wonderful memories!
We’d like to thank Mackenzie and her family for participating in this year’s Holiday Q&A event!
