Star-Kidz

Ian Patrick will be making his big television debut this fall when ‘The Neighbors’ airs on ABC September 26th following Modern Family. Ian was recently seen in the Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd feature film ‘Wanderlust’ as Grisham. On ‘The Neighbors’ Ian plays the role of Dick Butkus, the main child in a neighborhood of aliens (Zabvronians), he has been busy filming and spoke with us about acting and his upcoming role on this sure to be a hit comedy!

1. How did you get started in acting?

My sister Heda needed something to do, so my mother decided to get Heda into acting. Then someone suggested that I should audition for a part, and when I did I got the part.

2. What was your first role? Do you remember your first day on set?

My first role was “Little Red” in “Midgets vs Mascots”

I remember my first day on “Midgets vs Mascots” real well. It’s actually a funny story, the first day on the set I got bit by a pig! Let’s just say it was a memorable experience.

3. What was the audition process like for The Neighbors?

I really liked the idea of playing an alien; it is something different that I have never done before. When I found out that I was chosen for the role as one of the main members of the alien family I was really happy and excited.

4. What were your first thoughts when you found out you booked the role?

I was so excited! I just went crazy. There were so many other actors that were going for this roll so I was so happy that I got chosen for this part.

5. Who was the first cast member you met when going to work on The Neighbors?

It was Max Charles who plays the part of my human friend – Max Weaver

6. What was it like on set for the first day?

It was really really busy with a lot going on. People were running around and I was trying to meet all the cast and crew.

7. Do you have a favorite scene that you’ve filmed so far?

That’s a tough one. All the scenes I’ve shot so far have been so funny but I think my favorite has to be when I transform from human form to alien form in front of my human friends.

8. What can you tell us about your character Lennox Lewis?

Well, actually the name of the character was changed from Lennox Lewis to Dick Butkus who is a really smart alien kid.

9. In which ways are you similar to your role of Lennox? and in which ways are you different?

We both have really nice families. I guess the biggest difference is that I am a human kid and Dick Butkus receives his nourishment through his eyes by reading and cries green goo from his ears.

10. How would you describe the show The Neighbors to fans looking to tune in?

It is about aliens who come to earth to find a new home because their home planet temperature keeps increasing. When they first get to earth they take on human form and buy every unit in an expensive and secluded New Jersey housing development. Then after waiting for ten years and not hearing anything from their home planet, one of the alien families decides to leave and go back to their home planet. This leaves one of the units available and the human Weaver family buys it without knowing that everyone else in the housing complex are aliens. When the Weavers find out they are really scared, but decide the aliens are friendly and decide to stay. The aliens then begin learning and experiencing everyday human life and events in New Jersey.

11. Is there anything else you would like to add?

Yes, the show “The Neighbors” is really funny and everyone ought to tune in and watch!
