2012 – Hailey Medina

Hailey is the older sister of Aiden Medina whom you’ll remember from our November Q&A series. Hailey has worked on numerous projects including The Hollow Tree, College Humor and Brunchables. 1. How did you get started in the industry?

Hailey joined a “Performing Arts Company” and that let to a show at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ. A director was in the audience and approached Hailey’s parents. That encounter led Hailey to acting classes at Weist Baron in NYC. Soon, Hailey was asking her parents to support her dreams.

2. What was it like shooting your Nickelodeon Flashmob Dance?

So amazing and super-cool. I really loved being in the middle of Times Square with a microphone singing and dancing, while cameras were rolling and on-lookers were stopping to watch the show.

3. What was your favorite part of filming The Hollow Tree?

The Hollow Tree experience was great. I enjoyed interacting with all the cast and the crew. Everyone was truly sweet.

4. How do you prepare for an audition?

I usually start by going into my room and practicing in front of my mirror. For scripts, I sometimes rewrite lines and “try-out” different tones and places to pause. Then, my brother, Aiden, and my mom and dad all help out too. We gather together in our jammies on my parent’s bed and everyone takes the other roles. We have a great time together!!! {Diet coke and snacks and usually close by}

5. What was the best part of recording in a recording studio for Little Miss Muffet’s Monster-Sitting Service?

I absolutely LOVED hearing the playback of my voice! Each recording session was filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement. I’m still super-psyched about seeing the finished project. Ialmost screamed recently because I saw an advertisement in the magazine Time Out New York Kids and it wrote about the show. It can be seen from Jan. 17-Sept.30!!! OMMMG – oh my Molly Muffet goodness!!!

6. What is your favorite type of job to work on (commercial, film, voice over, etc.)?

All the jobs have given me amazing opportunities and each one is different and special in itsown way. I get really happy when I get a big script because I love memorizing and practicing the sides.

7. How do you like working with your brother Aiden?

I do like working with Aiden. We have been really fortunate to have those kinds of days. It’s great because we aren’t “all going in different directions.”

8. Who have been your favorite people to work with?

Wow! I can’t pick just one. First of all everyone associated with LMMMSS at the Swedish Cottage Theatre have been amazing! Also, my College Humor friends are super funny too. Every cast and crew I’ve worked with have made me enjoy each experience and given me the opportunity to practice my skills. I also will never forget working with Will Smith, Robin Williams, Travis Payne, and Kenny Ortega!!!

9. What is one of the funniest things to happen on set?

Lots of funny things happen on set. I’ve seen a lot of people stumble and fall. However, I will not name names.

10. What has been your favorite project to work on so far?

Again, so hard to decide on a favorite project because each assignment is so different. My last two scripts werewonderful and the jobs were sooooo fun. The Little Miss Muffet and a Brunchables commercial.

I, Hailey Brooke Medina, just want to say thank you. Thanks to my family, CP Talent Management, teachers, doctors, relatives, friends, and any possible supporters. I’m proud of my accomplishments and excited about my acting future. Currently, I am enjoying my trips to NYC, my after school activities, playing theWii, my understanding teachers and my goodfriends. My parents say that they, “thank God I am healthy and feel blessed that I have a happy demeanor and expressive personality.” When I hear these things I just hug them both. My mom and dad also support my dreams and have always instilled the idea of YES, YES, YES- I CAN! {P.S. I totally believe them, and you should believe in YOURSELF TOO!}
