Carmen LoPorto played the role of Jack Manning on One Life to Live. He’s been seen in Pride and Glory, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and was seen in an episode of Nurse Jackie earlier this year! To keep up to date, make sure to visit his Official Website.
1. How did you get started in the industry?
My mom was driving home from work and heard a commercial on the radio about child acting auditions. It was actually for the John Robert Powers School of Acting in NYC. I was accepted and took 10 classes. After my 5th class they had in-house auditions which was actually how I got my manager Breanna Benjamin / Dave Brenner of Creative Talent in NYC. I went on a lot of auditions and got a couple of short films, tv pilots, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for Disney, Law & Order SVU, movie called Pride and Glory and then One Life To Live.
2. What was it like to shoot Torture Chamber?
It was really cool because I was the main character and played the evil Jimmy Morgan. I had to have a lot of make up and special effects put on everyday. I shot about 18 days in 7 different locations in NY and NJ. It was a lot of fun and the director and everyone were really nice.
3. How did you prepare for some of the scarier/more gruesome scenes?
There was a lot of special effect make up I had to put on everyday. It was hard sometimes to eat with it on and sometimes the smell was really bad. It was awesome to be the evil kid but it wasn’t really scary to do but it is really scary to watch the finished movie.
4. What was it like filming Nurse Jackie?
That was fun because we shot my scenes at an amusement park and I love amusement parks and rides. The cast members that I shot with were really nice and Edie Falco was great!
5. How did you enjoy working with Ruby and Mackenzie?
They were really nice to work with and made me feel comfortable. It was fun too because it was at an amusement park and we all actually went on the bumper cars together while we were not shooting.
6. What was the best part of attending the Daytime Stars and Strikes event this year?
I was a little nervous because I haven’t been on the show for almost 2 years and really didn’t know how the fans would act towards me. But everyone who was there, cast members and fans were excited to see me again which made me feel really good.
7. What is it like being at the OLTL viewing with fans and watching the final episode?
I was sad and a little nervous. My last episode was in February of 2011. When I shot it I didn’t know at that time that it would be my last time shooting as Jack Manning. I was really taken by surprise that they decided to recast the role of Jack. I had been doing it for almost 3 1/2 years and they were all like a second family to me. I was sad when the last episode aired and wished that I had been apart of it and not just watching it.
8. Do you keep in touch with any of your OLTL co-stars?
Some I do on facebook like Sean Ringold & Kelly Missal
9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?
Colin Farrell on Pride & Glory, Dante Tomaselli & Christie Sanford on Torture Chamber, Kassie DePaiva, Trevor St. John, Kristen Alderson, Kelly Missal, Sean Ringold on One Life to Live
10. What is your favorite OLTL memory?
I have a lot of favorite memories but probably the most favorite was when Snoop Dog was on.
We’d like to thank Carmen and his family for participating in this year’s Holiday Q&A event!
