2012 – Brandon & Savannah

 

Brother and sister duo Brandon & Savannah have taken the music industry by storm. Their hit song “All The Runaways” has been heard by more than a million people on Youtube with radio stations across the nation adding it to their play list. Brandon and Savannah began taking an interest in music at a young age and since then have worked hard to bring their individual talents together to create their own unique sound which has lead them to sold out shows and an upcoming reality series on E! 1. What inspired your love and passion for music?

Music has always been a passion for the both of us. We are inspired by a variety of different artists, (Brandon): I’ve always admired John Mayer as a guitarist, vocalist and writer as well as The Beatles. We were raised in a house full of music! Good classic music. (Savannah) Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion have both been an inspiration to me since the beginning. They are such amazing singers and performers and I try to emulate them in all my performances.

We were really always drawn to music.

 

2. Brandon, you taught yourself how to play the guitar, were there any particular songs that helped you learn?

When I first got into music I started playing around with the guitar and started learning the transitions and chords. Soon I began combining the chords and making chord progressions which eventually led me to start writing my own music. I also loved playing Beatles songs.

 

3. Savannah, you’ve been singing since quite a young age, what songs could you be heard singing as a child?

Yes I started singing Broadway tunes when I was really young. Some of my favorites were ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade’, ‘Cabaret’ and ‘I’m Your Lady’ by Celine Dion.

 

4. How old were you when you first performed together in front of an audience, what do you remember about the performance?

(Brandon) We first started performing separately but because our crowds enjoyed us singing together better we decided to start performing together. I was about 10 and Savannah was about 8 at the time.

 

5. How did you feel learning that your House of Blues performance in California was sold out?

It truly was an amazing feeling. Knowing that we have people who enjoy and listen to our music is just awesome. The feeling we get before and after every show is truly indescribable.

 

6. What can you tell us about the causes and charities you support?

Giving back has always been something very important to us. We are very active in many charities including, No Hate, Guard a Heart, The Saint Judes Children Hospital, and one of our favorites, A Prom to Remember, a great event where we were given the honor of performing for these courageous teens.

 

7. Where do you draw your inspiration from in writing your music?

It sounds funny to say but a lot of our inspiration has come from our personal experience. For example, All the Runaways was written when were in Nashville but we were missing LA! We also draw inspiration from all the great musicians of today and also the Beatles.

 

8. Savannah, what are you looking forward to most about the International Junior Miss Finals?

Being involved in the International Junior Miss program gives me the opportunity to be a part of such a great organization that is committed to community service and academic excellence. I am also really excited for meeting new friends from across the country.

 

9. Is there anything you can hint at for fans to expect in your upcoming reality series for E!?

It’s pretty confidential right now. But you can definitely expect to get a glimpse of some new music and an inside look into our crazy fun family!

 

10. What can your fans see coming up next for you?

Well right now our song ‘All the Runaways’ is receiving a lot of hype. Not only does the music video have over 2 million views, but the video is being played in heavy rotation on MTV, and the song is being played on the radio, like KIIS FM. We are currently working on some brand new music, and getting ready for our very first tour coming up in July. We will be performing new music across the country in the Camplified Tour which launched Cody Simpson! Following that, we immediately go on tour with Midnight Red from Interscope. We are so excited about everything happening in our lives. We feel truly privileged and blessed to be performing and putting smiles on peoples faces. We had a great time while in LA filming our pilot. We not only performed at many live venues, like the Roxy, but attended the Kid’s Choice Awards, the MTV Movie Awards and experienced a lot of fan appreciation on the red carpets and in our audiences…and we love our fans!
