Terrell Ransom Jr. booked his first ever audition in 2008 when he began playing the role of Theo Carver on Days of Our Lives. Not long into his run on the show, the writers deciding to take a turn with Theo, diagnosing him with autism, and giving TJ and the actors playing his family some interesting material to work with. During his time on the soap, his character inspired him to get involved with bringing awareness to autism, and TJ attended several events to help raise money for the cause. After seven years playing Theo, his time on the show unfortunately came to an end when the show decided to age the character to a teenager in 2015.
In 2011, Terrell had a voiceover part on General Hospital.
In 2023, Terrell returned to Days in a new role. His character, Jerry Prentiss, pretended to be Theo for an amnesiac Abe. This role reunited Terrell with his onscreen dad, James Reynolds.
Career Highlights
Terrell kept busy with many different projects during his time on the soap. He did episodes of The Middle, CSI: NY and Detroit 1-8-7 to name a few and also worked on a variety of films, commercials and print jobs. In 2014, he began voicing the role of Darwin Watterson on The Amazing World of Gumball, a project he continued to work on through 2017. In recent years, Terrell has worked on many shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Good Trouble and Chicago P.D. He’s also appeared in movies A Chance in the World and Same Time, Next Christmas. Stars Say
“He’s so excited to be on set, and he loves us. He’s talking to this person over here, that person over there. His mom will say ‘Terrell Ransom Jr, come over here. This is what you’re going to do.’ Then, he gets ready and does it. [Jones recalls one day when mom’s instructions were complicated] After she finished telling Terrell, he grabbed his head and said ‘Too much information.’ It was hysterical.” – Renee Jones, Soap Opera Weekly
“Terrell is so precocious, and a great little actor. When he hasn’t been in for a while, he’ll come over, see Jim and me, and go, ‘I missed you.’ Your heart just melts. When we’re doing a scene and it’s over, he’ll tell us, ‘Good scene.’ He is a very sweet little boy.” – Renee Jones, Soap Opera Digest
