Xolo Mariduena played the role of Victor Graham on Parenthood. This year he has been busy with his much anticipated series Cobra Kai which you can check out on YouTube Premium!

1. What is it like working on the final season of Parenthood?
I’m not sure I totally comprehend the whole thing about a “final season” at the time. It really hit me when we filmed the final scene as the Grahams. That’s when I really realized that it would be my last with Erika and Sam and I was really overwhelmed. It took me by surprise how sad it actually was to let it set in.

2. How did you enjoy filming the scenes where Zeek teaches Victor to drive?
Oh man, that was so much fun! There’s a part where I went too heavy on the gas and Craig T had to reach over and put on the brakes. After that I was super careful.

3. What was the best part of working for The Children’s Place?
I actually still keep in touch with some of the talent I worked with even though it’s been like 7-years later. That’s a fun shoot, the photographers were always really good at working with young people.

4. How did you enjoy shooting the Back to School catalog for Target?
Photoshoots are a trip because you shoot hundreds of looks and they end up using one. With Target what’s trippy is that you will be IN a Target and see yourself in aisle 9 on a big placecard. That’s always a double take.

5. What was your time on set like working for Travel Wisconsin?
That was probably the most technically complicated filming I had done right up until Cobra Kai. It involved special lighting and makeup, a bald cap to cover every bit of hair that I had. That photographer was absolutely amazing.

6. What ws the best part about filming Parenthood with Tyree?
We spent so many years running around the NBC lot and it’s an experience that I will obviously never be able to duplicate. But just this weekend we had time to hang out and reconnect. We are still very close. I really consider Tyree family and that’s a bond that came from playing family for so long.

7. How do you like working with Bonnie Bedelia?
Ms Bonnie and I weren’t in many scenes together but when we did work she was just like you imagine her, really warm and attentive. Always made me feel welcome.

8. What was the most challenging part of filming the scenes where Victor finds out he could be held back?
I think that was my first crying scene like ever. It was hard because you have to cry on every take. We ended up only doing 2 takes because it was a very draining scene to film not just for the cast but the crew as well. There weren’t too many dry eyes that day.

9. What has been your favorite scene to film this year for Cobra Kai?
This year there is a one-camera shot that happens towards the end is the season that has to be one of the most awesome things I’ve ever gotten to film. I’m sure when people see it they’re going to flip. I’m fortunate that for Cobra Kai I’ve been able to do at least 85-90% of my own stunts and working with our stunt coordinator Hiro Koda has made me really appreciate what it takes to make 3-minutes on film look perfect. I can’t wait to see that scene on tv.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
This year I’ve been so busy doing my college apps that I missed a few deadlines but I want Star Kidz to know that I have always been very appreciative of the love you’ve shown me throughout the years. Thanks so much for always keeping me in mind.
