Aaralyn Anderson is a young actress from the Pennsylvania/New York City area. Since our last Q&A with her she has been seen on What Would You Do?, appeared in her first live theater production, and was on the new Netflix series Maniac!
1. What was the experience like filming for What Would You Do?
I absolutely LOVE shooting WWYD! I love the improv and in the moment acting. I get so excited when we get the “marks” to get involved. I hope I get to shoot many more episodes for years to come. I like spending time with Q and the crew too.
2. What is the most challenging part of filming the same scenario repeatedly?
Making it seem new and fresh each time without every leaving your spot. There is no real reset. Only when Q comes out to speak to the people do we get to let our guard down for a few minutes and relax. When its go time I have to just keep in mind I am not me at that moment even though I am you know what I mean?
3. How did you prepare for being in the play Ballyturk?
Ballyturk was my first professional theater gig. It was amazing but also I realized on stage there are no do overs or resets. You have to go out and be 110% every time you go out there. The cast was amazing considering when I was there I was the only kid. We really became friends especially me a Tadgh Murphy. We always would play around before the show. Him and Teddy had issues though lol
4. Were you nervous at all going on stage in front of the audience for the first time?
Not really, maybe a little cause I knew I had to do it right that there were no cuts and retakes.
5. What was the best part of doing a live theater production?
I loved everything about it. The music. The thrill of the audience interaction. The applause. Meeting people after the show. Dancing with the ushers. Playing ping pong backstage. Spending time with my theater nanny who I named Mary Poppins lol she thought that was funny.
6. What was the casting process like for Maniac?
Intense, confusing, fast, FUN!
7. How did you enjoy filming with Jonah Hill?
THE BEST! Buds for life! 😀 I learned from him to be in the moment and really commit to the character. Oh and he owes me some silly selfies lol
8. What was the best part of working with Emma Stone?
She is a really amazing actress! From the table read to filming I got to observe her in her different characters and see how she could jump out of one in to anther with ease. She is super sweet and would always talk to me.
9. What was the experience like attending the red carpet premiere?
EPIC!! The best experience ever!! I was so happy to see everyone again. The after party was even more amazing! I was the only kid there and that didn’t matter. Everyone was dancing with me, taking pics, hanging out talking, it was the best!

10. Do you have a favorite scene you filmed for the season?
My favorite scene I would say would be Danielle Marino telling jokes. I had to memorize like 50 jokes and tell them one after another, after another without laughing and Jonah was just coming back at me (all improv) trying to break me and he finally did when the baby started crying he was like “i know these jokes are horrible I wanna cry too” it was so funny I lost it.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me. I appreciate the love and support from my friends and family to my fans to Star Kidz to my manager (CP Talent) to my publicist and agents who have worked so hard behind the scenes for all these things to become a reality.
