2018 – Natalie and Katie Monarch

Natalie and Katie Monarch played the role of Emily Brady aka “Baby Bonnie” on Days of Our Lives. The girls appeared in several episodes this year and have also been seen on Single Parents!

1. How did Natalie and Katie get started in the industry?
Both mom, dad and big sister are in the industry, (I’m a musical theatre performer and dad is a production manager for television) so I figured I’d find them an agent. I didn’t think it would all happen so fast! We were referred to Zuri Model and Talent and absolutely loved Kathy!

2. What was the experience like to work on Single Parents?
Single Parents was very different as they were night shoots. Babies at night are pretty difficult. Their second scene (it ended up being cut) was shot at 11:00pm! Natalie was a mess, crying with daddy off set. Katie rallied and was just kind of in awe of the whole thing!

Jake Choi was so so sweet and fun and really took the time to get to know both of them which was awesome! Wish we could go back!

3. How did you react when you heard the girls booked Days of Our Lives?
Honestly, I grew up watching Days so it was so surreal. Of all the shows, this was the show I grew up loving! I was so curious as we didn’t know the storyline or anything. The girls were booked for just 2 episodes at first so I just thought it would be a fun little thing. We had no idea it would be such a fantastic storyline!

4. What was the best part of being a part of the cast?
The best part of Days of our Lives is the fellow actors and the crew. We were so welcomed and the crew and staff always made sure that the girls were safe and taken care of. The actors would stop by the dressing room to see the girls and say hi. Bryan and Nadia (Lucas and Chloe) would laugh and make faces at the girls so all of those first smiles were from them!

Then Farah and Kyle (Mimi and Rex) came in and they were just as comfortable and helpful! Kyle did an entire rehearsal holding Katie! He said, “She’s fine, can I just hold her?”

5. Could any of the Days cast tell the girls apart? and is there anyway to tell the girls apart during their scenes?
The baby nurse (Mila) could tell them apart. I don’t think the cast could at all. I thought I would be able to know when I watched it but honestly, I’m not sure! We do know that Natalie did most of the stroller and car seat scenes and Katie did the very first and the very last scene.

6. What was it like filming with Farah Galfond?
She is so sweet! The studio teachers watched her grow up so they have a history so Farah would come by to say hello to them and to the babies. She was so good with the girls on set and you can even see the girls holding her hand in some scenes because they felt so comfortable. We had no idea she was pregnant at the time!

7. How did Natalie and Katie like working with Judi Evans?
Judi blew my mind! She is so professional and such a pro at angling the baby for the camera and had an entire fight scene while holding Katie and in crazy spike heels! She never misses a line or cue so her scenes go super fast! The girls just went to her so easily and it was their first day on set so we were worried, but they felt comfy with her!

8. What’s the best part about working with Kyle Lowder?
He is a dad and it shows because as soon as he picked up Katie, she just put her head on his shoulder and snuggled in. I was kind of blown away. She woke up on set and once he picked her up she was just completely fine. I was standing by with a toy and ready to jump in, but he just kept her. Also, Kyle and Farah had great chemistry on set as a couple so it felt super natural having the baby between them.

9. How did you all enjoy attending your first Days of Days event?
Haha we crashed Day of Days! We saw it was at Universal and we live close by so we just showed up and said a quick hello to Kyle. He jumped up and hugged the girls and even though they haven’t seen him in 6 months, they went right to him! It’s funny because Katie had just woken up again. I guess she wakes up and goes to Kyle pretty well haha.

10. Do you have a favorite scene/episode the girls did?
By far, the goodbye scene with Lucas and the last scene with Rex. Bryan nailed the emotion in the goodbye and (Katie I think) put her hand on his face. So good! Then watching her snuggle on Kyle’s shoulder and watch as he walked away! Broke my heart!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
A fun fact-They are on an upcoming episode of Teachers on TVland and Katie has a crush on the cameraman. He had to duck so she would stop looking at him during the scene. Then, in the Single Parents scene she was staring at the camera and I saw it was him again! It was hysterical! I followed him on Instagram and she lights up when she sees his picture. Not sure why I find it so funny, but it cracks me up. Her mom on Teachers said, “Sorry sweetie, he’s engaged”
