Star-Kidz

Joey Rippo is a young actor from the New York City area. He has filmed multiple commercials, had a role in the Johnny Knoxville film Weightless, and you may recognize him from his recurring role in season two of The Path!

1. How did you get started in the industry?
My brother and I got started in the industry when my Mom sent our pictures out to the top NY agents…I was 6 and Nickey was 9…we met with a few agents and decided to go with Generation Model Management….we really liked and trusted Patti…eventually we met with Dina on their TV side Generation TV….I only did a few modeling jobs the first few years because my hair was super long so it was mostly Nickey going on auditions and working but then I cut 8 inches off my hair and met again with Dina Torre on the TV side and she began to send me out with my new look…my 4th audition was for a principal part in a movie and I booked! That was 2 years ago and I’ve had several awesome projects since!

2. What was your time on set like filming Weightless?
Filming Weightless was a lot of fun…it was my first experience filming and it was really very exciting….my family and I stayed in a hotel near set for a week and I had to have a set tutor….I was surprised to see how many takes they do go each scene…some can take hours! I got to work with a stunt coordinator and even had my own stand in! It was really cool! And I loved the kraft table!

3. What was your shoot for your Mediacom commercial like?
Shooting the Mediacom commercial was really cool because I got to film with my brother…it was really cool because they had a snow machine blowing fake snow since it was a Christmas commercial.

4. Do you have a favorite part of filming your French’s commercial?
My favorite part of filming the French’s commercial was that we got to eat while filming and I made new friends filming that I got to spend the day with.

5. What was your first day on set like for The Path?
The first day on the set of The Path was a lot of fun! It was the first time I got my own trailer! Though it wasn’t nearly as cool as the trailer I got the third time I worked on The Path as a principal character! The crew and the actors on The Path were so nice…it was so cool sitting in the cast chairs….we spent all day filming two scenes on the beach at Rye Playland…it was super hot but I had so much fun I didn’t want the day to end!

6. How did you enjoy working with Leven Rambin?
I loved working with Leven Rambin she was really nice! The first day on set she would sneak off to the kraft services table with me lol….even though she played my Mom I actually shot more scenes with Aaron Paul and spent more time with him…but Leven was always so nice and even offered to coach me on any scenes I needed help with…she gave my Mom her number to call if I needed help which was really nice and she played Pokemon go with me and even let me take a pic of her with one of the Pokemon…she was really cool!

7. What was the best part of filming with Aaron Paul?
The best part of working with Aaron Paul was how much fun he was! He would make me laugh right before the scene started or even during the scene as we walked off camera…there was one scene in the armory museum where we would turn the corner out of the cameras view and he would kick me in the butt lol he would also make fart noises right before starting the scene too make me laugh… we shared a bag of Cheetos which was fun….my brother was on set the day of the armory museum scene and the crew gave my Mom and brother a pair of head sets to listen in…Aaron said into his mic (right before the scene started) this take is for you Nickey so you better be listening…he always spent the time while they were setting up the next shot to talk to me and my Mom….he also would go up to the extras between takes and introduce himself and ask them their names and where they were from….so besides how much fun and how nice Aaron was the best part of working with Aaron was getting to work with such an amazing and talented actor…it was incredible to wok with a famous actor and get to see how down to earth and what an incredible person he is on and off screen.

8. What would you like to see happen next for Johnny?
I would like to see Johnny and his Mom get involved with the cult…they kind of left their storyline up in the air last season and this coming season we didn’t film…I’m hoping they bring us back in season 4…I would love to see Johnny and Chloe end up in the cult and see more interaction between John and Eddy.

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?
My favorite person that I have worked with is Aaron Paul! It was cool working with Leven Rambin and also Alessandro Nivola but Aaron Paul is my favorite!

10. Is there anything you can share about your upcoming episode of Mr. Robot?
I can’t really share much about my up coming episode for Mr. Robot…I was in a small scene with Rami Malek that should be airing in about 6-7 weeks…it was a lot of fun and Rami was really nice! I got to ride a skateboard in my scene! I had to practice a lot on the skateboard leading up to filming! That day on set…they brought me to the hair and makeup trailer and they sat me right down next to Rami…it was really cool because I remembered seeing him in one of my favorite movies…Night at The Museum…he was also in Need for Speed with Aaron Paul!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Working in the industry has been so much fun and exciting! Going to the city is always an adventure…I’ve met so many cool and different people and have had amazing opportunities! I can’t wait to work on more projects in the future! And I really hope to get to work with Aaron again!
