1. How did you get started in the industry?

I have wanted to act as long as I can remember. It all started as a toddler doing a performance at the end of a summer camp. When I was 5 I started musical theater, and I still do that today!! I love musical theater! When I was 10 my mom set up a profile for me on Backstage and agents and managers started contacting us. That is where my TV/Film/Commercial adventure begun!!

2. What was your first booking?

My first booking was a commercial for the Food Network App. I got to play with cupcakes!!

3. How did you enjoy traveling to Northern California to film your Raley’s commercial?

Traveling to Northern California for a commercial shoot was long, but fun. They had a lot of cool snacks, so that made the time pass.

4. What was your time on set like filming your Pizza Hut commercial?

OMGoodness!! I had an amazing time on the set of the Pizza Hut commercial! The director, Chris Applebaum, even gave me a cookie pizza after drooling over them all day at the shoot!

5. How do you prepare yourself for a live theater production?

The way I prepare myself for a musical theater production audition is by singing my audition song over and over, until I drive my parents, sister and dog crazy! I read the books, watch the movies and YouTube other performers in the parts I am auditioning for. Then, I read my audition scene over and over till I have it memorized and filled with emotion.

6. What was the experience like playing Matilda in a production of Matilda?

I had so much fun at the rehearsals and productions of Matilda!! It was fun playing the role of Matilda because I was able to play a completely different person then myself, plus she has “magic”! Also, my best friend, Rian, played the other Matilda.

7. What is the most challenging part of auditioning?

The most challenging part of auditioning is probably getting in front of someone new and giving them everything you got.

8. If you could work with anyone in the biz who would it be?

If I could work (or meet) anyone in the biz it would most positively be Zendaya! She is a great actress, has a very sweet heart, and she has amazing style!!

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?

My favorite person to work with so far was Kyla Drew. Kyla Drew was great in every way imaginable!!

10. What has been your favorite project to work on so far?

My favorite project to work on so far has to be Pizza Hut commercial. I had an amazing time on set…I mean, a reindeer and pizza, does it get any better?!?!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I think in this biz, you really have to thank your team. Osbrink Talent Agency, Monster Talent Management and great head shots (Laurie Fahey) have really given me the opportunity to audition for some amazing roles!! This dream team has let me follow my dreams, and for that I am truly grateful! And, can’t forget about my mom and dad that drive me everywhere!!

We’d like to thank Ruby for participating in our February Q&A series!
