Skylar Rowe is a young model from the New York City area. She has been seen for Gymboree, Mini Boden, and to keep up to date make sure to check back at our Facebook.
1. How did you get started in the industry?
I wanted to be in magazines and stores so my mom sent in my pictures to agencies in NYC. Then we had a meeting with Patti from Generation Model Management and we loved her and the Generation team.
2. What was the best part of shooting for Mini Boden?
The best part of shooting for Mini Boden is all of the really CUTE clothes and seeing my friends. We got to do lots of fun poses and dance on set. Working with the whole team (photographer, stylist and make up and hair) was so much fun.
3. Do you have a favorite outfit you got to shoot?
Well, it is really hard to choose but I LOVED two outfits from Mini Boden. The first one was a cardigan and a puffy skirt and the second one was a newspaper sundress. I really want both outfits when they come out.

I had a lot of fun working for Gymboree and I got to see my friends. I made some really great friends at that shoot. Also, we shot on location in Brooklyn and not in a studio…it was sooooo pretty and I loved being outside.
5. How did you feel seeing your posters up in stores?
Oh my gosh….I felt so awesome! I couldn’t believe it was me and my friends in the store on giant posters. My mom took so many pictures of me with the posters. The ladies that worked in the store were so nice to me and I got to take home a poster.
6. What is it like shooting with MKG Photography?
I LOVE Mary Kate! It was really fun shooting with her! I made 2 great new friends, Melo and Kalia. She takes really great pictures and makes it so much fun for us because she lets us pose how we want as we are walking or running through NYC.
7. Is there a specific company you hope to get to work for one day?
I really want to work for GAP someday. Maybe it will happen 😉
8. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?
I really really love working with Mary Kate and I can’t wait to work with her again someday. I loved the whole team at Gymboree and Mini Boden. They make it so much fun for us…it doesn’t feel like we are working!!!!
9. What has been your favorite project to work on so far?
It is so hard to decide!!! I had so much fun at every shoot I have done. They are all different and I have made so many great friends along this journey.
10. Do you have any advice for kids your age who would like to get started in the industry too?
My best advice is to be yourself, let your personality shine and smile!
Is there anything you would like to add?
Thank you so much for this opportunity to do this Q and A! 🙂
We’d like to thank Skylar for participating in this year’s February Q&A Event!
