2013 – Fabrizio Zacharee Guido

 

Fabrizio Guido is a young actor from California. He has several theatrical credits to his name including Cabeza de Colifor and Grey’s Anatomy. You’ve seen him as Tomas in World War Z, and he has recently been seen playing Demetrio Hernandez on the NBC series Welcome to the Family. 1. How did you get started in the industry?

I got started when I was very young. I would go with my mom to the theater and I would always see her rehearse and perform. Then her and friends started to ask her if I could be in their short films. I did my first short film when I was about 5 years old and later got into commercials.

 

2. What was your first booking? Do you remember being on set the first time?

My first commercial was a Mc. Donald’s commercial. I remember having a lot of fun on set. It shot by a lake so I got to play near the, lake and pick up rocks for my rock collection. And one of my first films was “Cabeza de Colifor” based on the life of “Salvador Dali” directed by Salvador Benavidez. I also had a lot of fun on the set because I got to work with other kids and Salvador Dali has always been one of my favorite artists so being in a film about his live and seeing the Elephant props that they had on set was really cool.

 

3. What was the experience like filming Welcome to the Family?

It was super fun. I loved every minute of it. Specially riding on the carts on the lot. Everyone the actors, producers and creative team where a pleasure to work with. I really miss working on that show we all became like a real family. It was my first time doing comedy and my character “Demetrio” is the total opposite of me so it was fun to take on that challenge.

 

4. How did you react when you found out you booked World War Z?

I was really excited it and the best birthday gift ever. I had been working and training for a long time. So when my agent Jaime Ferrar from JFA called me on my 11th birthday and said I got the part. You can only imagine how excited I was to be a part of such an awesome film.

 

5. What was it like filming for the movie?

Filming WWZ was so much fun. I got to travel out of the country for the first time. I got to spend three months in the UK. Everyone was really cool. I love cars, and every day I was picked up in a different car to get from my hotel to the set. So for me it was the best to be picked up in really cool European cars. I also got to work with Brad and Mireille who are very talented artists and fun to work with. I got to run away from Zombie, work in a huge green screen stadium and even learned how to handle a prop gun. During my time off I explored London. I loved going to the aquarium and play bumper cars with Sterling and Abigail. I even got some time off and got to do some acting training in London. I made tons of new friends both on set and at school. It was just awesome.

 

6. Do you have a favorite part about working on Grey’s Anatomy?

Working on Grey’s Anatomy was great. It’s not a kid’s show so I had never seen it until I booked the job and then of course the episode I was in. It was a fun set and the director and everyone else there was really nice. The set teacher that worked with me on Grey’s Anatomy was a retired pilot so I had a lot of fun hearing his experiences and learning about all the places he had visited.

 

7. How do your friends and family react to seeing you on television and in movies?

They are all very proud of my and very happy to see me doing what I love. My friends understand that we can’t be hanging out all the time because I have to work. So when we are together we make the most out of the time we have. They think that what I do is really cool, so sometimes when we hang out we make our own films. They are all very supportive. When World War Z came out they where there on opening night and have seen it like 4 or 5 times. My family, are also very supportive and proud and understand we sometime have to be away for long periods of time and might not be able to be at all the family events. But they always tell everyone about the films or TV shows I’m in.

 

8. Do you have a favorite short film you have worked on?

I’ve really enjoyed working on every short film that I’ve been in for different reasons. But one of my favorites is “Monster” directed by Douglas Spain. Douglas is also an actor so he really knows how to communicate with the actor to get what he needs for the shot. And the best part was that we had a scene with a cake and at the end of the day I got to take the cake home with me and eat it. It’s the best cake I have ever had.

 

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?

I have so many favorite people. Brad Pitt from World War Z is such a cool and talented, guy I loved working with him and can’t wait to have the opportunity to share the screen with him again, Rita Moreno on “Welcome to the Family” who played my grandmother, she is not only a talented artist but so funny and I learned so many things from her for example how to milk a mouse and dead mans finger. And my whole family from “Welcome to the Family” Justina Machado, Ricardo Chavira, Joey Haro, Mike O’Malley, Mary McCormack and Ella Rae Peck. I learned so much from all of them.

 

10. What advice would you give to other kids interested in acting?

If acting is, their passion I would say “follow your dream and keep sharpening the saw and don’t ever give up.”
