2012 – Alyssa Lower

 

To kick it off we have a Q&A with Alyssa Lower’s family. Alyssa just started in the industry this past summer and already has been seen in 18 Kids/18 Songs, ads for The Christmas Tree Shops and Toys R Us, her Play Doh commercial will be airing soon! 1. How did Alyssa get started in the industry?

Alyssa got started in the industry through The Events. She was selected to showcase her acting and runway modeling. She won honorably mention in a group of thousands in Orlando, Florida in April 2011. After this she (we) knew her passion was in this industry! She then was selected to participate in an American Girl fashion show for charity in Columbus, Ohio in November 2011. She absolutely loved every minute of involvement in the modeling and acting world! This past summer (2012) we met Colette/CP Talent at a workshop and after relocating to NJ we signed with her company.

2. What was Alyssa’s first job? What was it like on set?

Alyssa’s first job was for Christmas Tree Shops. The set was fun and exciting! She got to sit at a thanksgiving dinner table with a boy her age while laughing over dinner and wearing silly turkey hats! She really loved everything about this experience and couldn’t wait to do it again!

3. Does Alyssa have a favorite song she’s done for 18 Songs/18 Kids?

18 Songs/18 Kids was such a blast! Her favorite song was PSY meets John Williams Jurassic Park – Oppan Gangnum Style. She loved working with the other children and the band!

4. How does Alyssa prepare for her auditions?

When getting ready for auditions Alyssa dresses in her ‘audition clothes’ and fixes her hair. If she has any lines she works on them daily until the audition. She always likes to be off book for her auditions. If there are lines to memorize she learns them line by line and then writes them down from memory to make sure she has them. We always say ‘practice makes preparedness’ 😉

5. What was Alyssa’s favorite part of shooting her Play Doh commercial?

Alyssa’s favorite part of shooting the Play-Doh commercial was when she got to film a solo part. The part was with one of the play-doh toys and she had so much fun with it. I am sure that there was not one part that she did not enjoy for the entire 10 hour day!

6. Does Alyssa do anything special to celebrate bookings?

To celebrate bookings we go out to dinner, her choice of restaurant. Generally we are just very grateful for the opportunities to be selected and she is happy to be living her passion!

7. Who have been Alyssa’s favorite people to work with?

Alyssa truly enjoys people and all of them that she has worked with. She loved working with Aiden Medina at 18 Songs/18 Kids shoot. She got along so well with him. Barry Shapiro and Liz Ortiz-Mackes are among many that make the list of A+ teachers at The Performing Option.

8. What has been one of the funniest things to happen on set?

One of the funniest things that happened on set was when we (Aiden and Alyssa) made their own band on set at 18 Songs/ 18 Kids. What a blast they had practicing their songs together!

9. If Alyssa could shoot for any company, what would it be?

If Alyssa could shoot for any company it would be Disney! Ever since she was little she would watch Disney and practice being Disney actors. Her role model is Selena Gomez from Wizards of Waverly Place.

10. What has been Alyssa’s favorite job to do so far?

So far Alyssa’s favorite job was the Play-Doh commercial. She had so much fun, from hair and makeup to on camera, there was not a part she did not have a smile ear to ear for!

Alyssa attends Madelyn Burns, The Performing Option in NYC. She takes weekly classes and monthly weekend camps as well. She works with casting directors to perfect her skills in this industry. Her classes work on commercial, film, TV, voice-over, theatrical, and Broadway skills. She also works with a private voice coach weekly at home and takes gymnastics twice a week. She is an ambitious and conscientious homeschool student that thrives when learning! Through this busy schedule she always has a positive and happy disposition.
