2012 – Alex Madera

Alex Madera has a wide range of credits from print jobs for Disney and Pottery Barn Kids to films such as Halloween H30 and Slimed! 1. What inspired you to become an actor?

Well, I saw people on tv & wished I could be like them and be on my own show.

2. What was your first acting job? What do you remember about the shoot?

I don’t remember, it was a long time ago when I was little… but my mom told me it was Summer In December and I had just turned 4 years old. She showed me the film & now I remember. I played a little boy with AIDS & my dad (his father in the film) was telling me about how I got sick and how my mom died. That’s when I first got to work with Lewis!! (Lewis Farinella, the director). I got to work with him again when I was in the music video. (He was the director for the music video).

3. Do you have a favorite song that you filmed for Baby Boost?

I don’t remember that either too much. (He was 4 years old) The only thing I remember is that’s when I met Danielle (Danielle Parker) and we had fun & she’s my friend STILL and on a show on tv. I see her when I go to L.A.

4. What was your favorite part of filming Bubblegum Smackers?

Oh wow, EVERYTHING!… every part was my favorite part!! I think my “best” favorite was when I was with Gabe (Gabriel Suttle) who was Big Pop & when we were filming the warehouse scene. And we got to stay up really, really late to shoot the scenes

!

5. What has been your favorite print job to shoot?

My favorite print job was the one when I was on the arm swimmies (an insert for the packaging for Florida Pools) because I was so excited that I got to swim in the pool & mom bought a whole bunch of them from Walmart

6. How do you prepare for your auditions?

Well, first I get my script and I go over it with my mom first but then I go over it by myself and I highlight my lines & learn them. Then the next day, I practice my lines in the morning without the script. My acting coach will talk to me about the scene and learn all about the character. I really think about it for the whole entire day when I’m doing stuff… so when I go to film the scene or go into an audition, I’m ready to be the character.

7. Is there anything special you do to learn your lines?

We use props and act out the scenes so that I know what they really mean and like it’s really happening. When we do that, it makes it easy for me to remember my lines.

8. Who within the industry would you love the opportunity to work with one day?

Adam Sandler!!!! Adam Sandler was in Billy Madison & Happy Gilmore and they are two of my favorite movies. I also would like to work with Selena Gomez or Victoria Justice or Miranda Cosgrove!

9. What has been your favorite project to work on?

Ooh that’s a tough one! There’s so many I liked so much, I can’t pick a favorite. Hmmm, maybe Missing 48 Hours because I was a main character and I was kidnapped & my brother (Brandon Larracuente) & his friends come looking for me. The people that I was working with became really good friends with me the first day on set! And Bubblegum Smackers also because I was a gangster and that was a cool role to play. Those were the ones I can remember most so they are my favorites right now.

10. Do you have any advice for children wanting to become actors too?

I would give them a script so they could learn the lines and see if they like it first. I would say it’s really a lot of fun and I say it is 50% work too, but it’s not like work, it’s really fun that you’re doing this work.

I really love to act & it’s even more fun when I live in L.A. & when I went to New York. I really love to go to the red carpet events where I get to meet a lot of cool people and I get to see my friends like Sam (Sam Lant) & Brendon (Brendon Eggertsen).
