2015 – Bailey Estevan

 

Bailey Estevan did a 2012 episode of The Neighbors. He has been seen in commercials for companies such as Burger King and Best Buy, the film Counterpunch and recently worked on a pilot! To keep up to date make sure to like his page on Facebook!

 

1. What was the process like working on Front Seat Chronicles?

I almost missed the audition process for this because the audition days were the same days I was shooting Counterpunch. The producer Josh Feinman worked around my schedule to audition me and I landed the part. I studied and learned my lines for this on my days off of the Counterpunch production. The production team was small but everyone involved was very professional.  Production managed to film both my parts one in Spanish and a copy in English all in one day. This material was of a serious nature and I just remember thinking I was happy and fortuante that my parents are not separated or divorced. I also remember the director Allen Sowelle wanting me to speak Spanglish in the Spanish version and not all Spanish. I remember thinking this is not right, its going to make me sound like I don’t know Spanish but you have to follow the directors direction.

2. What was the best part of filming your Burger King commercial?

I loved all the 70’s wardrobe and crazy hairstyles, I also remember thinking I could see myself living comfortably in the 70’s as long as I had my smartphone. I had a small breakfast that day and I was starving by lunch time. I normally don’t eat fast food but I was hungry, to top it off the restaurant was closed for filming so there was no food available. The golden arches restaurant just happened to be right next door and I remember thinking it would not be ok to go get burger there while filming for BK. When production finally broke for lunch to my surprise they fed us delicious
steaks and I was in heaven! Thank You BK for treating us right!

3. How did you prepare for your role of Prince Charming in a production of Sleeping Beauty?

Wow I can’t even remember that far back to 1st grade. Thats where I learned to memorize lines. I also remember the feeling of being on stage and the parents clapping. I knew then…I wanted to act.

4. What was your time on set like filming The Neighbors?

While my scene was very short on this production talent treated me very well. Whenever working a big TV production like this I have much admiration for everyone involved in making a show like this come together. I like to talk to everyone on set and learn a little about what it is they do.

5. What was your day like working on Modern Family?

I could get used to going to work on a set like that everyday. Modern Family has an amazing track record. I studied each actor on set and try to learn from them whenever possible.

6. How did you enjoy filming your Wingflyer commercial?

Wingflyer was a blast. I tried every stunt I could possible to break that thing at it wouldn’t break. Just because it has wheels doesn’t mean they have to stay on the ground. If I could have had one several days prior to filming I am sure I would have learned how to get it air born 🙂

7. What was it like working on Counterpunch?

Counterpunch was an amazing life experience for me. The director Kenneth Castillo was a blessing to work with. I was only 10 years old and getting the ok from my parents to cuss and act like a little trouble maker (on set only) while out of character for me, was pretty fun. Before I got the part, on my callback I had read the script that I would be working with Golden Globe Nominee
Steven Bauer. So being of Cuban decent I was overwhelmed at the chance to work with Steven. I went into my callback and didn’t hold back. Being on a latino production with latino actors and crew is much different than being on any production. One very quickly feels right home and into a groove with everyone and then that allows for everything on set to just flow pretty smooth. Very quickly I became close to actress Yennifer Behrens who was like a mother to me on set even when the cameras weren’t on us. I also learned a lot from actress Yvonne Cole who took me under
her wing between takes. Actor Oscar Torre who plays my uncle Frank in the film met with me before production started so that we could start bonding. A big thanks also to Alvaro Orlando for writing the script and sharing his life story. We are all still like one big family when we see each other no matter how much time passes, we pick up where we left off. I even came to set after I was wrapped just to hang out and learn more. I would jump at the chance to work with any of them again.

8. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?

Steven Bauer was intense on set, I would love to work with him anytime and anywhere. Kenneth Castillo is a great director that I learned a lot from. Oscar Torre made me laugh and would be a pleasure to work with him again. I would like to work on more feature films with different directors so that I am able to gain more knowledge from the different styles of directing.

9. What has been your favorite project to work on so far?

I would have to say Counterpunch because it was not only a great project but filled with adventures. Different locations and the longest production I have been on.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I recently shot a national Best Buy commercial for the Holidays last October and this was my 1st national commercial which was an amazing new experience. Then that same week I booked a Cox commercial in Spanish and English so it was double the work. Let me tell you thats not a complaint. I am happiest when I am on set working, I don’t like to stand around or sit for long periods of time in my trailer. I am there to work, so lets get to it. When I hear those 3 little magic words… “Talent on Set” I know its show time, and I am right at home…working on set.
