Merit Leighton is the older sister of Marlow Peyton. This year she was heard as Lucinda the Witch on Sofia the First, and has been busy filming A Tiger’s Tail! To keep up to date make sure to visit her official website, follow her on Twitter, and like her page on Facebook!
1. How did you get started in the industry?
I asked my mom if I could act, she said “NO” ..lol then someone saw my picture, (my moms a photographer) and it all started from there.
2. How did you react when you found out you booked Sofia the First?
I almost fainted…I was the happiest kid ON EARTH..It’s a dream come true to bring a Disney character to life.
3. What is it like voicing a character like Lucinda the Witch who also gets to sing?
AMAZING!…she is such a cool character to play…I have always dreamed of voicing a Disney character. Getting to sing was a huge honor…singing for Disney…JUST WOW!
4. What can you tell us about your character Doreen Portman in A Tiger’s Tail?
Doreen is the girl next door, she’s smart and nice…and she loves Tiger’s! It was a blast to play Doreen and an amazing experience working with baby tigers.
5. How do you like working with the tigers?
EPICLY AMAZING!!! It’s crazy insane to hold and feed this animal that will soon weigh 500 pounds…but right now it’s just a baby…once in a life time experience.
6. What was the first day on set like?
The first day was one of the best…in one of the scenes, I got accidentally got a scratch from the baby tiger Luna, so they let me feed her. That was a dream come true.
7. Do you have a favorite event you’ve attended this year?
We had a great time at the ASPCA event. We met fans and helped support a great organization. Our dog Benji is a rescue and we want to rescue another! Rescues are the best!
8. What was the experience like being on The Young Icons?
We were thrilled to be able to talk about the plastic patrol and get the word out. It was a great experience.
9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with this year?
I had a great time working with the entire cast of Tiger’s Tail, it’s an experience I will never forget. Of course working on Sofia the First is amazing, Ariel Winter, Darcy Rose Byrnes it’s such an honor. I love that job SO SO much!
10. What has been your favorite project to work on this year?
I have to say it’s pretty hard to beat Sofia The First BUT working with the baby tigers on a Tiger’s Tail was so fantastic…all the different wild animals I got to be in scenes with was just breathtaking. I’ve had a blessed year.
We’d like to thank Merit for participating in this year’s Holiday Q&A Event!
