2015 – Olivia Trujillo

 

Olivia Trujillo has been seen in multiple episodes of General Hospital and this year has also been seen in commercials for Old Navy and Target! To keep up to date make sure to follow her on Twitter

 

 

1. How did you get started in the industry?

My younger sister actually started in the industry before I did. I would accompany her to castings and I actually got picked for a job I wasn’t even cast for! It was just fate.

2. What was the experience like filming your Target Holiday commercials?

The target commercials were amazing because there were so many details. There was an amazing story line that I could totally have fun with and I also loved that it was a miniseries. I really got to get into character and become the little girl on the Christmas mission! I got to spend a lot of time with other great actors and I have made amazing friends from the experience.

3. Do you have a favorite spot that you worked on from the set?

My favorite spot was filming the storm trooper episode. At the time of filming I didn’t really get it or understand how big Star Wars was but as it came closer to air dates, we started to see all the props come on set and I got really excited. I eventually asked my parents about Star Wars and they explained what a phenomenon it was. I was so excited to be a part of such an amazing collaboration between Target & Star Wars.

4. How did you enjoy filming your Old Navy commercial?

Old Navy was amazing. We were in such a beautiful setting and everyone was so kind to me. It was one of my first big brands and everyone was so supportive and helpful on set. I really learned a lot from that commercial.

5. What was it like working with Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

It was funny with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, I honestly didn’t know who she was and everyone on set started talking about her, how they were so excited to see her and work with her but nervous. I guess because I didn’t really know who she was and how big of a star she was, I was not as nervous. It was just really cool to learn from such a star.

6. What was your time on set like filming the camp scenes General Hospital?

I always love going to the set of General Hospital. To me, it’s like I get to hang out with friends all day. I love competing, so going to camp, playing games and hanging out with friends all day was pretty awesome.

7. How did you enjoy filming Spencer’s birthday party?

Spencer’s birthday party was a lot of fun as birthday parties always are. I remember when he looked up on set and all of the other girls were dancing to the music. All of a sudden he just looked at me and we had that moment like, yeah cool, and we totally started dancing together. It was great improv.

8. How did you like working with the other kids in the scenes?

Working with other kids on set is a great learning experience. You get to see the difference between acting techniques and you learn from each other’s past experiences. But mostly it just makes me feel calm and cool being around kids my age and it also makes work fun!

9. What was it like seeing yourself in the episodes for the first time?

Seeing myself on TV for the first time was a little weird. I think my little sister is more excited. Every time she sees me she still screams and yells that I’m on TV. “Sissy come look, you’re on TV again!”

10. Do you have a favorite project that you’ve worked on so far?

Every project I work on brings new challenges and I love challenges. One of my upcoming projects is a Spanish movie called Por Sofia. I play the younger lead and I watch my father kill my mother. That was a very different experience for me.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I have been extremely fortunate to have a family that supports me in following my dreams. They want me to stay balanced and to be an eleven-year-old kid. I work very hard to have good grades. I do lots of my school work in the car to and from auditions. I play competitive soccer, 4 years now and I do mixed martial arts, specializing in kung-fu. I am excited to see what 2016 has in store for me!!!
