Aaralyn Anderson is a young actress from the New York area. She has been seen on shows including Maniac, Evil Lives Here, and New Amsterdam. She is a black belt in Kummooyeh Sword Fighting and working to become a Kummooyeh instructor.
1. How have you kept busy during the strike?
Well during the strike I was able to attend a summer camp for two weeks at a University. Then I did a camp where I shot bow and arrow while actively riding a horse. I was able to get my Black Belt in Kummooyeh Sword Fighting and did some voice over work.
2. What did it mean to you to protest on the picket lines in NYC?
I felt it was important to go to show my support. It was intense. I definitely understood more of why the strike was necessary after going.
3. What was your shoot for Paramedic Angel like? What do you enjoy most about filming on location?
Paramedic Angel was a cool location because we shot at an active ambulance station. I love being on location, it’s like a mini vacation. In down time we like to explore.
4. How was the experience filming your second episode of Evil Lives Here different from your first episode?
I have been very lucky to film a few. One I was the “Evil”, one I was the witness of the victim and the most recent airing was one where I was the victim. Even though it’s always super heavy material we are reenacting the crew make it smooth and easy. Even in the safety meetings they take their time to make sure you are really really comfortable with how things are going to play out. In between we talk about video games or viral videos etc.
5. How did you prepare for playing Theresa?
This was a hard story to tell. I had to really think about how this life actually happened they way it did and do the best I could to make it seem real and make sure her story was heard.
6. What do you enjoy most about doing projects based on actual events/telling someone else’s story?
I think it’s important to tell someone’s story. People who had amazing or horrible things happen. Sometimes those stories need to be told.
7. What was your time on set like filming Full Circle?
It was amazing! I got to work with Megan Byrne again. We previously worked together on New Amsterdam. My PA was also someone I had worked with before so it was really fun. The best part is I went in as a featured role and during filming I was bumped to Principal by Mr Steven Soderbergh the director who is best known for movies but directed this TV Series for MAX.
8. How has martial arts influenced you in your acting career and personal life?
Gosh, Martial Arts has had a huge impact. I feel like it helps me deal with emotions easier. It shows me that no matter how hard something may seem to be that if I try hard enough it is still possible.
9. How did you get involved with From We Can’t to We Can? What do you do with the organization?
My friend Sammi Haney (Raising Dion) was featuring her Disability t-shirt line with their fashion show a few years ago. I went in support of her and got involved. I occasionally help them get their story out. I wish I could volunteer more.
10. What are your career goals for 2024?
Lead…Lead role in anything….a series regular would be nice too but honestly anything that has me on set or on location I am ready to go! Hear that Cobra Kai, Karate Kid and some others currently casting…. I AM READY.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for all the love and support. Mostly I post on IG and I appreciate all the follows and comments. It really brightens my day.
