2023 – AnaSofia Bianchi

AnaSofia Bianchi played the role of Charlotte Cassadine on General Hospital earlier this year. Her resume includes multiple television and film roles including The Kominsky Method, The Nanny Murders, and Newsreaders.

1. How did you get started acting? Do you remember the very first project you ever worked on?
I started acting because I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my older sister. She is 4.5 years older than me and she was already acting. I remember mimicking my sister at her auditions both on camera and for voiceovers. My first job was a horror short with director Wess Alley. I had the best time acting scared. It really developed my love for horror/thriller.

2. What was your time on set like working on your episode of The Kominsky Method?
The Kominsky Method was my first studio job. I was 8. I was so excited to meet the iconic actors Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. When I was riding in the pass van with them I made them laugh when I announced to the entire van of the main cast that I could really get used to this lifestyle. I also remember seeing the entire cast of Young Sheldon playing pool in our shared area and I was so excited to see and chat with them.

3. What was your experience like filming The Nanny Murders?
The Nanny Murders was my first full length film booking. I had the best time ever. We filmed in a really gorgeous old house in the middle of the mountains of Santa Clarita. Gigi Gaston was the director and I just remember how sweet and amazing she was to work with. She let us improv several times which was so great and really made the filming so fun and natural. The entire cast was amazing. I really learned a lot.

4. How did you enjoy working with Scarlett Fernandez as sisters? Any funny stories from the set?
I was so happy to know that Scarlett was going to be my sister on this project. We both actually coached with the same coach Vicki Baumann for the role and we both booked it. Therefore, I already knew who she was. We immediately hit it off and had the best time on set. I remember us eating so many Starbursts one day and we were so hyper we couldn’t stop laughing.

5. What was the process like doing voice over work for Kingdom Hearts III? Are there any differences when doing voice work for a video game compared to other projects?
I love voiceover work. It is so much fun and I have done so many. Kingdom of Hearts was a booking I got because I auditioned for another project that I did not book so they offered me that role as a direct booking. It was super fast. I think I only had like 2-3 lines and it literally took 10 minutes. I remember it was in Burbank 5 minutes from my house, so it was the easiest job I ever worked. When I was working on Droners for 2 seasons which spanned many years it was a lot more time consuming as I had to match my voice to the images on the screen but I love that too. All the voiceovers are so much fun.

6. How did you react when you heard you booked General Hospital?
I was screaming and jumping up and down!!!!! My original audition was a self tape. I had no idea what character was auditioning for as for soaps everything is super top secret. I did know it was a recurring role. I got a callback which was a zoom and I really felt good about how I did. I was over the moon when I found out I booked. As actors we get so used to rejection that when you hear you booked it is a really amazing feeling but you are like wait are you sure?

7. What was your day on set like?
I had the best time on set. It was a long day. I was there all day and they did my hair and makeup many many times and finally at 8 pm we did our scene. All of the actors were so amazing and supportive. It made me feel good when I heard the main actors make mistakes and made me breathe a sigh of relief and relax. The filming was really fast. They move super fast in soaps and you get a rehearsal and one take unless someone messes up their lines. I had such a great time and I thought I was in for good but in this business everything changes overnight and I heard Scarlett wanted to come back to her role. She was my friend and I was happy for her to reprise a role she had for many years. I had no idea when I auditioned it was her role I was going into. I am not going to lie when I say I was bummed when I found out I was not going back. It is the nature of this business though and you have to have a hardened heart for it sometimes. I know there is something else waiting for me out there that I will book. This one was just not meant to be.

8. What was the best part of working on My Sister’s Serial Killer Boyfriend?
What do you like most about doing projects along the suspense/thriller genre? I worked on this project when we lived in Georgia. We lived there for a couple years and I was doing the audition circuit there too. I booked this one so quickly but I know it is because I looked so much like the older version of me Brianna Cohen. I was flattered to play her younger self.

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?
There is such a HUGE List. I loved working with director Wess Alley and worked on quite a few projects with him. He is very talented and had belief in my talents. I also LOVED working with GIGI Gaston!! She is a great director that is so good with kids and I learned so much from her. I love my entire Droners Family so much!! I have worked with them the longest and they feel like family to me, especially my Corto Jet Walker. I loved everyone at GH and Mark Teschner the casting director has been so kind to me and I appreciate the opportunity I received from him. The list goes on and on. I truly have loved everyone I have worked with. I of course LOVED working with my set sister Scarlett Fernandez and I hope one day I can work with her again. (Maybe an evil twin on GH…hint hint)

10. What is the most memorable show/film you’ve gotten to work on?
The most memorable show I worked on was GH. It was such a great ICONIC experience.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I am excited for what 2024 will bring. I have already had a few big callbacks since the strike ended and I am excited about my future in the industry and living in Los Angeles again. Thank you so much for this interview. It was my first. ❤
