Star-Kidz

To kick things off, we have our Q&A with Zach and Chris Randazzo and their family! Zach and Chris played Joey Jr on Big Love, and have appeared on Mad Love, Cougar Town, 90210 and more! The boys have quite the resume for their young age, to keep up to date, make sure to visit their page on Facebook!

1. How did they like working with Dan Byrd?

Dan Byrd was incredibly patient and cute with the kids. He seemed to really enjoy working with them, especially in the “Baby Cage” episode, and the boys responded well to him.

2. How did they get the boys to do some of the funny ‘stunts’ for Cougar Town?

Chris and Zach actually practiced the stunts. For the stunt in which baby Stan is pulled across the kitchen floor, the boys practiced on set a few days prior while getting fitted for the heavily padded suit they wore to protect them in the scene. And while it looked like Stan was pulled across the house, he really wasn’t. Chris filmed the take and the result was a heavily edited scene that was filmed rather quickly.

3. What was the most challenging part in filming two shows at once?

Scheduling was the biggest challenge. We often didn’t know when the boys would be called on set, receiving notification either the night before or the morning of the shoot. Thankfully, Cougar Town usually called the boys on Mondays and Big Love used them on Thursdays and Fridays.

4. Have the boys ever seen any of their print jobs, can they tell who is who?

Yes! When the kids appeared in a Baby Sale store poster for Crazy 8, I asked the store manager at the Crazy 8 in Torrance, CA if we could have it. I’ve since framed the sale poster and it’s in Chris and Zach’s bedroom. They love looking at Chris and Zach as “babies,” and yes, they know exactly who is who, despite Chris wearing the little girl outfits.

5. How did Zach and Chris enjoy working with other kids on Big Love?

Because Chris and Zach filmed at the “compound” primarily at the movie ranch in Agua Dulce, CA they did not interact with the other children that filmed at the studio in Valencia. They did however film a scene with Cassi Thomson and she was so sweet with Zach in the episode. The cast and crew in Agua Dulce just adored the kids; and they were the only cast members that young. Chloe Sevigny, Melora Walters, Shawn Doyle, and Bill Paxton were just the nicest people to us and to the children.

6. What was it like shooting for Hanna Andersson?

Chris did a fantastic job on the photoshoot with Hanna Andersson. Both of the children light up in front of a camera!

7. Do you have a favorite Cougar Town memory with Zach and Chris?

My favorite memories of Cougar Town happened when the cameras weren’t rolling. Courtney Cox and Ian Gomez were so sweet to the boys when we were waiting for takes on set. I greatly appreciated their loving attitudes toward Chris and Zach. Also, when the kids were getting fittings for clothing, one of the directors complimented the children and told me that “he’d never worked with such agreeable and charming children.” That made my day!

8. What is your favorite project the boys have done so far?

When I look back, Big Love was definitely my favorite, just for the overall experience. This can sometimes be an ugly business, but everyone at Big Love bent over backwards for the children and the parents. Everyone was incredibly kind and professional and it felt like we were part of the Big Love family.

9. What have the boys been up to?

Chris and Zach are in their 2nd year of Preschool and will be attending Kindergarten next year. They love preschool and have also recently developed a love of singing together. I tease them that they will be the next big boy band with their bright blue eyes. Chris and Zach attend auditions for opportunities as they come up… so you just never know when you might see them again.

Thank you so much for your love and kind support for Chris and Zach!

We’d like to thank Zach, Chris, and their family for participating in this year’s Holiday Q&A event!
