Alyvia Alyn Lind plays the role of Faith Newman on The Young and the Restless. This year she has been seen on Masters of Sex, in Coat of Many Colors, and more! To keep up to date make sure to follow her on Twitter and Instagram.
1. How do you prepare for a role?
Well for example, for Coat of Many Colors, I googled Dolly Parton, then watched a lot of interviews with her. I studied her dialect, and watched the way she moved and laughed and spoke. I looked up pictures of her when she was a little girl. I always like to know as much as I can about a role before I start.
2. Do you have a favorite episode you did for Revenge?
Even though it was really tough to film, I really liked the episode where my mom (Jennifer Jason Leigh) tried to drown me. The water was so cold and there were little prickly things in the water and I had to hold my breath over and over again. Every time I started kicking under the water because I was acting afraid, they thought I was telling them that I needed to come up! And I would say, “No!!! I was just acting!!!” It was a hard day, but the day I remember most on set.
3. How did you like filming Coat of Many Colors?
Filming Coat of Many Colors was the best experience. Again, it was so hot in Atlanta over the summer, and most of the scenes were outside, but it didn’t matter. Every day was so much fun. I loved all the kids playing my sisters and brothers, and Jennifer and Ricky took care of all of us. It’s my favorite job so far.
4. What was it like working with Dolly Parton?
Dolly is exactly how you would think she is. She is warm and caring and funny – I felt like I had known her forever the first time I talked to her. Both of us really felt connected to each other and felt like this was meant to be.
5. What was the experience like filming your Walmart commercial?
Hahaha! Filming the commercial was like filming a little movie! There were so many scenes and I worked on it for 3 days! But I liked that commercial because it was about sharing with the kids who need it. I liked the message.
6. How do you like working with Melody Thomas Scott?
Everyone calls her “Mel”- and she is so nurturing! She started acting when she was little too – so she gets it. She’s always sure that I am taken care.
7. What is it like working with Kelly Sullivan?
Kelly is SO sweet! In a lot of scenes I’m supposed to hate her, and it’s so hard, because after the scene she smiles and hugs me! She is an amazing actress and I love when we have scenes, just the two of us.
8. How do you enjoy working with the other kids on the show?
It’s so much fun when there are kids on any show! I usually work with adults, which I love too, but when there are other kids, it’s just sort of icing on the cake! It’s also fun, because we do school during work, so I’m not the only kid in school on the days there are kids!
9. What has been your favorite scene/episode to film for YR?
My favorite scene, because it was so emotional and Kelly and Josh and I were feeling it so much, was the scene where they have to tell me that Christian didn’t make it. After the scene we all hugged each other because we knew how well it went. It was such a good feeling.
10. What is the best part of acting and what was your favorite job so far?
My favorite part of acting is just being able to pretend I’m lots of different people, and live other peoples’ lives. I love to travel to different locations for work, and experience different ways people live. I feel like my work is my school too – I learn so much every day. I really hope I get to do it for the rest of my life. I would be so lucky.
We’d like to thank Alyvia for participating in this year’s Holiday Q&A Event!
