2021 – Riley Go

Riley Go is the older sister of Alex Jayne Go and has worked on a variety of television shows. Most recently she has been seen on The Big Bang Theory and Punky Brewster!

1. How has auditioning changed since you first started working in the industry?
Due to the pandemic, the majority of my auditions have shifted to online Zoom meetings, or self-tapes which my sister and I record from home. Although it requires a lot of adjusting — learning to navigate different software and technical difficulties, and dealing with quick turnarounds for auditions — I’m super thankful that Hollywood has prioritized and found a way to keep both actors and casting directors safe during this time.

2. What’s been the best advice you’ve been given on set?
On the set of 2 Broke Girls, showrunner Michelle Nader (who was directing for the very first time) gave me the advice to “never stop learning and growing.”

3. What was your time on set like filming The Big Bang Theory?
Filming the Big Bang Theory with Cleo and Cassidey was incredible. I’m so grateful I was able to see the iconic set in real life, appear on the show at its tail-end, and even get a photo with Kunal Nayyar (who plays Raj on the show)!

4. How did you enjoy meeting Mayim Bialik?
We love watching Mayim at home as Amy Farrah Fowler, but meeting her was such a surreal experience. She came by to talk with us on set, and I remember her being so down-to-earth and friendly.

5. Is there a genre of work you’d like to work on?
I’ve always dreamt of working on a superhero movie or something musical.

6. What was your experience like working on Punky Brewster?
It was a fantastic experience that I’ll never forget. Getting to work with executive producer Soleil Moon Frye, directors Jude Weng and Phill Lewis, as well as the talented cast and crew, I’m so honored that I was able to play Madison, and become a part of the Punky family.

7. What was your first day on set like?
So much fun! We did a run-through of the entire episode, and I had a wonderful time meeting the cast (including the dog playing Brandy)! Afterward, I also had a mini-fashion show with costume designer Mona May, who I’m such a big fan of. Thanks to her and Punky Brewster’s brilliant wardrobe team, my character, Madison, got to wear the COOLEST outfits… I still miss my cat jacket.

8. How did you enjoy working with Lauren Lindsey Donzis?
Working with Lauren was a blast! Along with the other kids on the show, she was hilarious, and made me and Hanani feel right at home.

9. What was the best part of filming with Freddie Prinze Jr?
He always told such funny jokes, and overall, created a really warm and welcoming atmosphere on set.

10. Do you have a favorite scene you filmed for the show?
My favorite scene was the one at the lockers, where Hanani’s character, Bree, shows us her very over-done Instagram makeup. In real life, Lauren and I didn’t know what it would look like. We’d been shielding our eyes during the rehearsals, to make sure our surprised reactions would be the most authentic they could be. But when Hanani walked out on the first take, we were so taken aback by her makeup, that we all started bursting into laughter. It was such a fun scene to film, and definitely the most memorable one for me.
