2021 – Ryan and Holden Hare

Ryan and Holden Hare play the role of Johnny Abbott on The Young and the Restless. They have also recently been seen in a CarMax commercial.

1. What was your time on set like filming your CarMax commercial?
Filming Carmax is our favorite time on set yet! We got to spend two full days cuddling a big St Bernard dog and a puppy St Bernard. Originally the commercial had a puppy St Bernard in it too that Ryan was suppose to carry but the puppy weighed almost as much as he did so they had to cut the puppy and just use the big St Bernard!

2. What do you enjoy the most about booking jobs as twins?
“I love booking things with Ryan because it’s so fun to have him down on set with me instead of one of us having to stay up in the dressing room while the other one films when we are booked not as twins” – Holden

“It’s really fun to film they with My brother because usually when we are booked as twins it’s to do something funny or fun in the commercial!” – Ryan

3. If you could be a part of any movie franchise what would it be?
Oh for sure we would want to be in the marvel movies because we love Venom and Carnage.

4. What was it like to go back to the YR studio after the shut down?
Going back to film after shut down was definitely different! We have to drive to set the day before we film to get Covid tested and then we get an email that night telling us we are cleared to enter CBS Studios. They have strict mask rules while we weren’t filming and while we were doing rehearsals than once it was time to film the scene we would shove our mask into our pocket. For the first few times we filmed after the shut down they still made us all stay 6ft apart so it made filming scenes with our TV mom super awkward! Things are slowly getting back to normal.

5. Who was the first person you were reunited with your first day back?
In the parking lot we met up with our TV sis Sienna and we were all so excited to see eachother before we walked in then we went to see Amelia our TV mom!

6. Just wondering if both of you still portray Johnny Abbott on The Young and the Restless, or if it’s now one of you more than the other?
Yes we both still play Johnny. We pretty much switch every episode and take turns filming.

7. What is your earliest memory of being on set for The Young and the Restless?
“We have been on Young and the Restless since we were 6wks old but my earliest memory is when I got to do an episode where they were doing a product placement with Hershey’s Chocolate and I got to eat so much chocolate” – Holden

“I remember getting to celebrate Johnny’s birthday in an episode and I got to eat lots of cupcakes! Also filming the Halloween episode dressed as a lion when I was like 2 or 3 years old!” -Ryan

8. What has it been like filming with Richard Burgi?
We didn’t get many scenes with him but he was super nice.

9. How have you been enjoying working with Christel Kahlil?
We love her! Even though we still want our TV mom and dad to be together Christel is so fun. She makes filming our scenes really easy and it feels natural talking to her on set!

10. Do you have a favorite scene you have done recently?
Our favorite scene we have filmed recently was not on Young and the restless, it was this fall when we filmed a promo for Entertainment Tonight and it involved us getting filmed eating ice cream cones and playing soccer in our pretend front yard! That was epic!
