2021 – Sadie Mae O’Sullivan

Sadie Mae O’Sullivan has been seen on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, has worked for Spirit Halloween, and is a dancer and twirler. Currently she can be seen as Annie Who on the national tour of How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

1. How did you get started in the industry?
I got started in the industry when I was 8 years old. I actually was a national champion baton twirler before I started working and I met my now best friend Ryan Buggle in a stretch class. We quickly became inseparable and began dancing together as a duo. Ryan has been in the industry since a baby and has been very successful. His aunt Elizabeth and Ryan encouraged me to begin auditioning after seeing how much I loved to perform. We convinced my mom! And now here I am!

2. What was your shoot for Spirit Halloween like?
I love shooting with Spirit Halloween! I have worked for the company 3 times now and it’s always so cool to see myself on their packaging each Halloween! It’s also neat to have friends across the country send me pics when then spot me in stores. This year I shot a Coraline and a Sally (Nightmare Before Christmas) costume. Both costumes were so much fun because I love everything spooky and love both of these movies so much!

3. What was your time on set like filming for Law & Order: SVU?
Very fun! I was a principal on the show and I got to work with my best friend Ryan who plays Noah Benson on the show. Getting to work with Mariska Hargitay was beyond inspiring. She is an absolutely amazing person.

4. How did you enjoy working for OMG Accessories?
Working for OMG Accessories was a blast. They are a super cool fashion brand for kids, tweens and teens. Their stuff is so on trend and I was obsessed with it all.

5. What inspires you to dance?
Inspiring others inspires me to dance. My twin brother and I were born prematurely and had many medical issues after birth. I actually was born with various birth defects as well as a life long condition called hypotonia that affects my muscle tone and strength. I have had many doctors tell my parents that dance or athletics wouldn’t be something that I would be successful in. But I have always done what I loved, worked hard and believed in myself and my dreams. I became a national champion baton twirler at age six and an accomplished and award winning dancer by age 8. Although there are things that are more difficult for me in dance it has never stopped me. I believe that dance is for everyone. And I hope my dancing and my story inspires others to dance and to pursue their dreams.

6. What was the casting process like for How the Grinch Stole Christmas national tour?
The audition included a lot! I learned 2 scripts, 2 full songs and one dance.

7. How did you react when you found out you booked Annie Who?
I cried tears of joy! It was a dream of mine that came true. Also my youngest sister Maybre has been a grinch fan since birth! I was so excited for her to be able to see me in a show that I know she would love so much.

8. What was the rehearsal process like?
We traveled to Kentucky for rehearsals and tech week. We had a beautiful huge space to rehearse in each day. We rehearsed many hours while also doing school daily on set. I loved every second of it!

9. How did you feel performing on stage in front of an audience for the first time?
AMAZING! The stage is my home. Performing for an audience is the most amazing feeling EVER.

10. Do you have a favorite city you have done the show in?
I have really enjoyed each city we have traveled to. We have done shows so far in Charlotte, D.C. and Paducah. Our next stop is Atlanta which I am very excited for as well. Out of all of our stops I have to say that Paducah stood out to me as such an inviting and interesting city. They have a very historic downtown filled with museums, fun shops and restaurants. All of the people we met while there were so friendly and inviting. And the food was yummy!
