2015 – Jonathan Tysor

1. How did you get started in the industry?

I’ve always been a “performer” and since I was really little we’ve been stopped by “mall scouts” numerous times but my parents thankfully knew enough not to go that route. Last year, after a lot of begging, my mom took a few photos of me and sent to three agencies (and she thought that would be the end of it…). All three got back to us asking for meetings and in the end we signed with Zuri Model and Talent Agency for print, commercial and theatrical. A choice we’re very happy with!

2. What was your time on set like filming for Days of Our Lives?

So much fun! It was my first theatrical job and my first time on a big set. Everyone was super nice.

3. How did you enjoy working with the other kids in the carnival scenes?

We had a blast playing carnival games and getting the adults wet with our water guns!!

4. What was it like shooting for Old Navy?

I was originally booked to work with them in Los Angeles but then got called in last minute to fly up to San Francisco and shoot there too. That was my very first print job and I was a little nervous but it was fun! Unlike commercial and theatrical work, this job was done in a couple of hours so I got to sightsee in San Francisco and went to the Exploratorium with Hudson, one of the other models.

The Old Navy shoot in LA was downtown in a park. The set teacher had the cutest dog who even got to be in one of the photos. We played in the park, had a pretend picnic and biked.

5. What was the best part of working on Comedy Bang! Bang!?

Playing hide and seek in the scene with Evan, the other kid actor. It was a fun episode and we all wore really crazy 80’s clothes.

6. How did you feel seeing yourself on the cover of Mini Maven magazine?

That was pretty cool. I loved that shoot. We were in Twenty-nine Palms and everything was western themed. I had worked with the stylist, Heather Rome before (she’s awesome) and now I cannot wait to work the photographer, Zoe Berkovic again (she’s based in New York). I also made some great friends with the other models on that shoot.

7. What was your shoot like for Enfants Terribles Magazine?

That was in Balboa Park in San Diego with Heather (stylist) and Stephanie Matthew (photographer). We rode the carousel, ate the best ice cream ever, pet a giant snake and Heather tried to convince me that boys can wear sparkly pink shoes LOL!

8. What was the experience like working on your Disney commercial?

Another super fun day! I got to work with a three-legged dog with a go-pro camera on his back. That spot is still airing on the Disney Channel right now.

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?

I feel like I make new friends on every job, it’s impossible to pick…

10. Do you have a favorite project you have done so far?

Every job is a new exciting experience and I’ve been lucky to do a lot of really fun jobs. One of my favorites was a super-secret project I did back in August that was kind of a dream job. I’m not allowed to talk about it but just let’s say it was about my all-time favorite books.
