2019 – Alyssa Mejia

Alyssa Mejia is an up and coming actress who appeared in an episode of General Hospital this year. She has also be seen on shows like Fuller House, Nicky Ricky Dicky & Dawn and more.

1. How did you get started in the industry?
I wanted to act and be on tv since I was the age of 5, watching Disney channel growing up really gave me the inspiration and motivation. I started my career professionally after I visited the set of Zendaya’s Disney sitcom, Kc Undercover, thanks to my cousin who was her make up artist at the time, gave me the 411 on how to get jobs. Once I got signed up I started working!

2. What was your experience like working on your Dunkin Donuts commercial?
Working on the Dunkin’ Donuts commercial was a really easy day, I had a great time meeting and conversing with new people, and eating lots of donuts!

3. What was the best part of filming for Fuller House?
The best part of filming fuller house was getting to meet some of the cast (they were so nice!!) and film in front of the live audience!

4. Were you nervous at all working in front of a live audience?
At first I was because the first 2 days of work were our rehearsal days, I received a script to go over on blocking and cues, which had to be perfect for the live taping. After our rehearsals and the day came, I was completely confident and comfortable, after a couple minutes of feeling nervous, of course!

5. What was your time on set like filming General Hospital?
The General hospital set was so cool and filming was one of the best times I’ve had the on set, our scene was set as if we had class in the outdoors, so yes, we did have to sit on actual wet grass in the studio, crazy!!

6. What is the difference in working with a group of kids your age oppose to working on a set full of adults?
When I work with a group of kids my age, they tend to be slightly immature, which I understand, we are young and we do have room to grow, but when working with a set full of adults, it is business! There’s not as much time for being goofy because this is our job and we should take it somewhat seriously. I’m not saying it’s always strict on an adult set (trust me there are fun time!), the motives are just different.

7. How do you feel when you see your work airing on television?
I laugh when I see my work airs, I think it’s hilarious and really dope to see myself on tv.

8. What has been the most challenging role you’ve taken on?
The most challenging role I have taken on has to be when I worked on the columbine PSA commercial. It was an eye opening experience of this epidemic of gun violence, not only in schools, but everywhere.

9. Do you have a favorite person you’ve gotten to work with on any of your projects?
I don’t think I could choose a single person because there have been so many great actors that I have come across, but my top 3 would have to be 1)Gina Rodriguez, this lady was above and beyond one of the nicest people to meet ever! She was very encouraging and motivating to the work environment on set, I would love to work with her again! 2)Skai jackson, she was so sweet and she is one of the actresses I basically grew up watching from Jessie, so I was most definitely happy to work on Bunk’d with her and the rest of the cast! 3) Damon wayans, I grew up watching him on in living color and my wife and kids, so when I got to work with Damon it was a really exciting experience for one of my first jobs ever!

10. Do you have a favorite project you’ve gotten to work on so far?
My favorite project would have to be working on Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn with Nickelodeon. I was on set for 3 days and I met a lot of my industry friends.
